Crack me up each time he says AFAS, instead of SFAS. He is giving great advice on the mindset that you need to develop through your training in order to tackle selection by crushing it and not simply passing it. My experience in the Army exposed me to those that sought to elevate themselves in order to be part of a very select few. Some go for the right reasons and others don’t. I believe that in order to be successful you must condition your mind to have faith in your physical conditioning, no matter how much it may suck. That is why you have to push harder in order to build that faith.

My uncle was a Ranger then SF in the early 90s. He told me in RIP, they had multiple guys who could run a 5 mile time in 25mins consistently. And throughout SF Q course and RIP, his 2 mile time was 12:30 give or a take a little. And that was common back then. Crazy to see how much more competitive it is now.

Your uncle is full of shit. A lot of guys blow up the facts about their military experience and he is for sure one of those people. I will tell you right now, some of the most competitive times you will see are anywhere in the army are from 30-32 minutes. And no matter where you are in the army, a 12:30 2-mile run exceeds the max standards.

Came across your channel on KZbin shorts, it is refreshing to see the no BS mentality. Hearing some of the stories where candidates self-select or have a failure in mentality is almost as baffling as the people with college degrees going enlisted. Show up, perform, and tell yourself "I was made for this shit". That mentality got me through RASP twice (broke my legs the first time so I had the luxury of spending 10 months in pre-RASP and RASP) and a mechanical engineering degree with honors.

Do not go to the regular army. 18X candidates have something like a 60% selection rate at times. The rest is around 30-35%. Food for thought ruck on 🤘

100%. They literally show you how to do the obstacle and you’re allowed to ask questions. The Nick has been there so long my father went through it, I went through it, my son is about to graduate and go through it. Cadre probably just had enough, a consistent gray man stands out.

Hey Jake, I got a question, I’m Muslim and I wanted to see how that would effect me in terms of being in socom, in terms of racism and more importantly the fact that I don’t drink which is I mean quite big in the military as I have seen. I heard a guy get kicked out of ranger battalion just cause the Other guys didn’t like him even though he was great.

@@justinparsons6669 why do so many people say running and rucking is so crucial for sfas but yet people get dropped left and right for not being fast. See a lot of guys say you need to be able to ruck a 12-15 min pace with low effort for many miles. What bs did you deal with in the Q?

I had short stride. Had to train a lot to get that 12 min pace. But yes it’s crucial. To get there you just gotta put in the hours. No other way. The Q is continually changed your environment. Never comfortable.

Find a good boxing school, Muay Thai or Krav Maga Universal school. I disagree emphatically about BJJ being great for a street fight. You go to the ground, and his friends pounce upon you, or you get stabbed or shot by the dude trying to get away from you.

The reason I ask is I have a ton and the all all of them end on the ground. Even the last fight I have lost in the 7th grade end on the ground and your right his brother kicked me in the face and ended the fight.
