I remember having a Wii U when I was younger, and I had a good experience with it despite the poor sales. Everyone I talked to would ask me "Hey, do you have any games?" and I would be like "Yeah, I have some". Then when asked what console I had, I told them I had a Wii U. They usually looked at me "wtf is that?".

@@paulovalente738 Smash bros 4 was also really good. Yoshis wooly world. It has an exclusive mario tennis game. Sonic lost world I am planning on trying out soon. Most games have been ported over to switch anyways. But alot of others still havent. Another game I gotta mention that is an eshop exclusive to the Wii U is the game fast racing neo. It is pretty cheap, it was like 14 bucks. And it looks and plays pretty well to. And is most likely going to be gone and forgotten when the eshop goes down in march. But it makes me strongly think of F-zero. The other cool thing is it has like a 5 dollar DLC option. I dunno, I love my racing games. So I figured I would mention that If you didn't know. I am sure there are others. But fast racing neo is pretty legit for 15 bucks.

My childhood was very lucky and unlucky. My parents opened a Video Store in 1982- 2002. We rented video game consoles and of course many games from all the consoles released during them years. When they decided to close the Video Store, I was able to keep everything gaming. So I became a console collector, I own every US home & Handheld gaming unit ever made with the exception of the NintendoStation. I even went back and got the Magnavox Odyssey from 1972. What sad is, that I do own every console you showed off. Except the Japan consoles and I agree with you in every way.

The reason streaming based consoles are failing now is that people don’t realize that streaming games like tv shows is too difficult. We don’t have the proper networking infrastructure in the majority of the world to actually accommodate consoles like ouya and stadia. Not just that but proximity from the server can mean anything from a seamless game experience in a state close to the servers, or a Google slideshow in an area far away…

@@sbojan83 that’s... that’s the point of my comment? Stadia is aimed at people who can’t afford a high end pc to play games; but in places like Latin America where the “most public would be”, internet is REALLY slow (~5Mbps on average) really bad and really expensive, so if you can’t afford a high end internet Stadia loses its entire point which is to provide “affordable” high end pc gaming to people that aren’t able to pay for it.

It would be like a new big ass console release now from a new company or some shit, and they were marketing it and it sounded better than xbox series S or playstation 5, and it did everything 10 times better and it had all these cool features. But oh yah, it costs 1300 dollars. Like im not gonna buy that shit when i can get a playstation 5 for 600 bucks. Like they have to know the market. If anything, really push the console and do all that shit and find some way to release it for cheaper. You hit the nail on the head when it comes to the monopoly of the gaming industry. If Google can’t even break into the industry with unlimited resources, what chance do smaller companies have? This is why modern games all feel so similar. There’s no competition outside of the pre-established Goliaths. It’s the opposite problem the industry has in the 80’s but the result is the same - a market full of low quality products and rehashed IP’s from the past. It’s sad to see what’s become of the gaming industry. It looked so promising back in the 2000’s but things haven’t improved since then.

Scott the Woz actually mentioned that during E3 1995, Sega announced the Saturn was ALREADY available with a $399 price tag. Announcing that the Saturn was already available had actually pissed off many retailers cause they wouldn't be given the appropriate amount of time to market the game in their store. Thus, many retailers refused to sell the Saturn.

That and a handful of other problems. Sega Japan and Sega of America hated each other. The head of Sega America didn't want 2d games (something the Saturn excelled at) and only wanted polygon based 3d games. Both Sega of Japan and America did a bunch of stupid stuff.

@@Gatorade69 That's insane because I actually loved the 2D stuff back then. 3D was often meh because it wasn't something really mastered yet. @Gatorade69
@Gatorade69 Жыл бұрын
@@zhawkmoth3653 I don't necessarily think Japan had it more right, they did in some regards and not in others. It was Sega of Japan's idea to release the Saturn with no launch leaving a lot of pissed off retailers, some who dropped the console and did not sell it. It was also Sega of Japan that decided to not have a standard and or good dev kits and reference materials, which is why a lot of companies chose Sony and the PlayStation. Some sources claim that Sega wanted to keep it that way so their in house developers would have an edge. Both Segas made some really stupid choices, I wonder what could have been if they had both worked together.

Ngl, as someone who has spent time in the hospital, Stadia was a lifesaver. Yeah sometimes you'd get the glitches, but with a stable connection, you're good. But being able to just bring a controller with me and play triple A games was pretty good for me. It definitely got better over time

@@mountaindew3201 At least the Dreamcast had built in four controller ports and was much easier to code for than the PS2’s complicated architecture. Add to that, if the install of the PS2 wasn’t high, then developers would’ve ditched the PS2 in favour of the Dreamcast, GameCube and Original Xbox since again it was a pain to code games for it. Oh, and the Dreamcast is now worth more than a bargain bin PS2 that you could find at a local thrift store because of how many PS2’s have sold overall lol.

Even though the Wii-U failed, it holds a special place in my heart. It was the first ever console I got for a birthday. The special part is that my mom gave it to me and I personally loved it. Just the memories it gave me were great.

If you still have it. I highly advise you to mod it. There are easy on-line guides on how to do it. And it turns the WiiU in a beast capable of playing retro and backup games from all the oldest until its generation. Plus Netflix and KZbin.

Fun Fact about the Virtual Boy: The prototype used 3 led screens, the classical RGB, to show nice non-irises melting graphics. But Nintendo decided to limit to one color due to production cost, it would almost quadruple its sales price if ir had the 3 colors. Also, they choose red cuz it was the cheaper of the three.

I’m not a gamer. But it’s amazing of what catches on and what doesn’t in gaming or in technology in general. The Segway infamously didn’t catch on, but 30 years later the Hoverboard did. When the IPad came out I thought that won’t catch on, and now I’m typing this comment on an IPad. But even though Apple wants the IWatch to catch on, yet it hasn’t and I don’t think it will. Who remembers the awful Google Glasses?, or the XBOX Kinect?, or the PlayStation Move?. I didn’t think the Nintendo Switch would catch on but it did.
