Any chance of bircking my console, have no priiloader? I also have EU 4.3 firmware with homebrew and YAWM installed. I did the hacking with the letterbomb exploit, but have not installed any priiloader whatsoever (i've just followed a tutorial on how to get the homebrew channel and USB Loader GX installed, along with NEX/SNES/GB/N64 emulators). Is this method safe to use for patching IOS 80 if I don't have a loader?

There's always a chance of bricking your Wii whenever installing a wad file. If something just happens to go wrong just because, you can kiss your Wii goodbye. It doesn't matter if it's a patch like this one or just a game. You should install priiloader just in case.

@@OldsXCool Thanks, I just tried it and it worked :). I said I take a chance... I think only certain IOS can brick your wii... I'm not installing any custom wads only wiiware. They have all worked so far, I only had this problem with some of them failing to start after exporting to SD card. But thankfully the IOS80 patch fixes this problem.

You're welcome. People in your situation are exactly the reason why I made this video because it is super hard to find the most up to date info on Wii hacks since Nintendo kept patching out the Home brew channel on every single firmware release of which there were many, so the exploits to get it back on kept changing so there is a ton of outdated information still on the net that you have to sift through to find the most up to date method.

Hey so I own a Mac so I couldn't use ModMii, but there's a database with every .wad file for every game on the Wii that I have access to, and I found it also has the version of IOS 80 I needed for 4.3U, and I tried installing it using Multi-Mod Manager but it didn't work? Not sure if you still check the comments on a 3 year old video, but I saw in the download part of the modmii program that the weather and news channels were there. If i were to download those as well, would it be able to make my blank versions of those gain their functionality on my wii? I never downloaded the data for them as a kid, so now they just stare at me on the home menu saying "install for 0 (or whatever it is) wii points". Any response is appreciated, and your video was great!

You're welcome. What's out there really isn't bad info, just old. The Wii's firmware had quite a few revisions and the methods of hacking and files changed with every new revision. It was very hard to find the latest info for the final 4.3 firmware. I think I found it on some random message board. Thanks for watching.

Or you can add them to the wii menu and play them and create save data. Once you have save data, move them to the sd card. This was the method that worked for me and it could work for more people.

Great video. Well explained step by step. I also followed the MVG's tutorial, but I still get the same ticket Error -2011. Many WADS just won't install, even after the ModMii trick. Am I missing something else? Bad WADS?

I looked up that error. Make sure that you are selecting ios 249 before you attempt to install a wad or it will fail. The modmii fix that I demonstrate here is just to be able to run unsigned code from the SD card and has nothing to do with installing wads.

Followed this up to around 4:50 and I keep getting an error here. I don't have the base wad but it says it should download but doesn't, and says "1 of 1 file(s) are Invalid, Missing or were Not Updated properly" once I get to this part and nothing goes to the COPY_TO_SD folder. No clue what I missed. New to this so maybe I'm missing something simple

I got the wad to download finally but now I can't install it in MMM. I also don't know if having homebrew on my system memory and my wad channels on the SD card changes anything but I moved the wad channels to my sd card to save storage space, not sure if theres a better way to manage and play them all.

You shouldn't have to use the same version as I did. All it does is download the file that you need. It doesn't mod anything.

I read that IOS 80 works with all versions of 4.3 and IOS 60 is for the rest. You may wanna do a bit of research on that because I'm not 100% on that because I only looked in one place. Information about Wii hacking is all over the place because there were so many versions and revisions of hacking software. I have a new flat screen smart TV 📺and I'm using a Wii Hdmi converter because the newer TV's don't have the old school plug in cords in the back. When I try to run virtual console injections off of my SD card, they won't boot but will boot with the old school plugs using a older TV. Please help 🙏

I downloaded a bunch of wads and most of them don’t work, I just get a black screen then my TV changes to the backdrop and I have to reboot my Wii, so will this patched ios80 fix that? I’m not getting a “Failed to launch” error message and I’m not trying to run wads from SD Card, I installed them to the channel. Sonic 4 episode 1 works and Super Mario 64 works (well it would if I had the classic controller) but not other wads , so is mine a different problem or do i need a patched ios80?

Ios80 only allows you to run unsigned code from the SD card. If some of your games are giving you a black screen and ultimately rebooting your console there is a very good chance that those Wads are bad. I would try finding a different source to download the games from and see if those work.

It's fine, it wasn't even that at all.. the problem was when using my Wii2HDMI Adaptor, after switching to the official RCA Lead all WADs play fine, other than ones I need to use the Classic Controller Plug-in 😊 I don't have a classic controller at the moment but am thinking of getting one like the one that comes with the NES Classic Mini Console 😉

As far as I know the SD has to be formatted Fat32, not exfat in order for the Wii to read it.

You have to install the games onto your Wii's memory and then transfer them over to the SD card.

I’m following everything until you go into MMM. Do I need IOS249? It’s not letting me load it in MMM. Do I have to install it from elsewhere? It still allowed me to install the WAD, but I still get the failed to launch message. Very confused.

When you get to multi mod manager, hit left on the dpad and that will bring you to the IOS selection screen that you so me go to before I went to select the WAD. Change it to IOS249 or else it will not install. If you successfully hacked your Wii you should have IOS249 already. The Modern Vintage Gamer goes through the entire process in his video if you're still confused. I have a link to his video in the description.

I would do more research. The VWii is not the Wii so do not assume that anything that mods an actual Wii will work on the Wii U.

Black screen is different from failure to launch. I would check to see if VC games boot completely when loaded onto the system memory. If they do then move it over to the SD card. If it fails to boot both times you may have bad VC files. Plus make sure you're using the system game launcher like I am and not on other loader like USB loader GX just to make sure. Other than that I'm not sure. I'm not an expert on Wii hacks.
