Failure was one of the most underrated bands in the 90's. Their album Fantastic Planet is an absolute masterpiece in composition, execution, and production. If you have not heard the album, you should take a moment to write it down as its worth your time! Failure influenced many bands to come after them. Finally well over a decade later the album has been re-released on vinyl and is getting some recognition due to bands like 'A Perfect Circle' who covered a song from Fantastic Planet on their official release.
Here is wikipedias crap description:
Failure was an American rock band (often also classified as alternative rock and/or space rock) that was active from 1990 to 1997, during which they recorded and released three critically acclaimed albums. They are often compared to other hard rock bands from that time that were similarly labeled as "alternative", such as Nirvana, Soundgarden, or Bush, but are distinguished by their meticulous attention to textural sonic detail, inventive use of guitar effects and signal processing, and the overall expansive sound design of their later albums.

I was here at this show with my Toy Subs guitar player, Alex, and Dug Pinnick of King's X. We were off to left of the camera in this vid, but enjoyed every minute of it. I met drummer, Kellii (who was relentless), at this show, and he came over to party at my apartment afterwards. Great guy, and one of the fantastic bands on this planet. Sgt Politeness was a staple in our set because it was right up my alley, and I pushed for them any chance I got. So happy this show was captured, and stoked for the new album coming out! Long live THE Failure!

So many bands play sped up live, I imagine just to "get it over with" and for time constraints, and I find that a nightmare. The very best bands, imo, keep it at the same pace or slower perhaps, so we can savor the flavor.

Excellent vid! I saw them on this tour in May 05 '97 at the Bottleneck in Lawrence, KS. Poster Children and Summercamp opened (check out "Poster Children - Junior Citizen" and "Summercamp - Drawer" songs). Later that summer saw them on the second stage of Lollapalooza. The 90's was just a great time in music and I don't say that being nostalgic. I was fully aware that it was a period of revolution in music, a total reawakening, and was seeing as many bands as I could. Glad I did.

@@Bowler6611 Such an expressive song. Another Space Song and some others from Fantastic Planet perfectly express loneliness, or as you said "lost romance". Man, Kens eyes were dark af. This must've been when they were deep in it, right before they broke up. Ive been recently introduced to Failure and literally cant get enough of them

Man, for a live show in some tiny club in 97, that's some really good some quality... You can even hear the bass.

Just when I think this set can't get any better with a wildly good Heliotropic and Daylight finale, they bust out Enjoy the Silence and a sweet performance of Nurse Who Loved Me!!

@OutlawsOfRavenhurst - Thanks I appreciate it, KZbin removed a black flag video and removed my privileges to upload full concerts :( So no new ones lately

Go about five minutes in, you see the drummer's kit. That thing is a monster. love the light tom mounted on the right side. That's clever. His bass drum and ride are both oversized. that looks like it would be fun as fuck to play.

Ken's shoulder glance and subsequent head shake at 1:56 makes me wonder what was going on there.

WOW what a performance! These guys are amazing. I’m very thankful to be able to at least experience this now since I didn’t at the time. I just want to know, how in the heck is the crowd so still during Heliotropic? I would be rocking TF out!!

That Wal bass sounds damn good. Greg got some serious melodic skills on that bass.
