Yeah I think at the time a lot of people were disappointed it wasn't actually coming out on PS3. To be honest, it was for the better because the hardware wasn't quite ready to make a fully realized FF7 remake. The difference between the demo and FF7 remake is incredible. That's not to mention how much more realized the world is in Remake and Rebirth (and whatever the conclusion to the trilogy will be).

The little bits the added to Remake's intro sequence really teased the idea that "this is different than what you've known". I remember my first time playing. I was freaking out at Aerith looking back to the alley while a mix of Sephiroth's theme played. She knew something was wrong immediately. And the flower getting stepped on? Oof. I knew right there that I was in for a wild ride with unknown twists ahead.

My though exactly. Looking back this intro and having both remake and rebirth, you can see something is totally different from OG FF7, like Aerith knowing something is coming for her (Sephiroth) and also the scene with Cloud on the train, exactly like the intro of Crisis Core with Zack instead. Square put the bar really high and showed how they are capable of remaking a favoured game and give you same goosebumps like in '97.

I'm so glad they didn't remake it prematurely. They seriously provided what we didn't even know we needed with the remake: a game that would make you feel like you were playing FF7 for the first time again, and with production that made it look practically as nice as Advent Children, satisfying our childhood imaginations of what walking around Midgar would actually be like. I can only imagine the reality of the PS3 remake being something along the lines of FFXIII combat and lifeless faces during non-FMV cutscenes.

Yeah I love the sense of foreboding that was included. Like Aerith could sense something bad was gonna happen to her. It wasn't in the original, but it's still faithful to the og while making it seem new

I truly think that the introduction to FF7, and really FF7 Remake now, is one of the best intros in gaming history. It's such a fun way to serve as a tutorial while also introducing us to Midgar. I love it so much. So much that I love FF7 Remake more than I love FF7 Rebirth. Midgar is such an incredible place.

I love how the scale of the remake is so much larger than the original, that *it actually changes the music in this scene.* As the camera moves upward for the establishing city shot, the music actually slows down a bit. And then when the Shinra building comes into view it loops the previous part of the music the shot starts with but louder.

Time flies.. It has been almost 20 years since I first saw Advent Children and got in love with the franchise. Now I'm a grown up, have my own family, but I think sometimes how it would be nice to return to that place into my childhood, even for one day, to play ff7 on psx and an old TV 🥲 with friends, not knowing where to go, and how to beat end game bosses. Life was so different back then)

Yeah the technology just needed a little more time to mature. Everyone wanted a Remake when the demo came out, but it was for the better that they waited. Remake looked perfect at the end of the PS4 generation and now Rebirth and the next title will be in good hands with PS5/PC.

演出だけならオリジナルが一番洗練されてると思う。 闇に浮かぶエアリスの姿と響く足音、人と車が行き交う市街地が映り路地裏から出てきたとわかる。 そのままカメラが引いてミッドガルの全景バーン。ムービーからそのまま戦闘に移行。今見てもカッコいい。

Damn, going back to this really highlights how quickly graphics were evolving back then. This demo was only 8 years after the original game came out and people were foaming at the mouth hoping it was real. Fast forward to today, people are legit mad that Naughty Dog remade The Last of Us, even though when TLOU Remake came out, the time difference was actually longer between those two games than FF7 and this trailer!

After seeing these 3 versions compared, it’s pretty clear that it was absolutely the right move to wait all those years after the tech demo. The remake is sooooo much more realized and detailed. One blink and you’ll miss it moment is that you can even see the slums below the plates.

This is what the remake should have been. Almost 1:1 remaster with differences only being to aid in the immersion of the original story. Are there differences? yes Do they change the story? no Do they add even more depth to what we already saw? hell yes Like the addition of seeing Cloud on top of the train to seeing the soldiers on patrol and getting taken out by the members of Avalanche. Barrett telling Cloud to hurry up. It doesn't change the original's story at all and all it does it make it even more in depth and even better. But no, they changed personalities, story and timeline =/

I wonder why the PS3 version does not show Aerith closing and opening her eyes. I suspect, from the eyes of Cloud later that it was just very difficult for the designers/programmers to make her eyes look beautiful. I'm glad for PS4/5 that changed SEVERELY. 3:57 We have come a far journey from World of Warcraft square pupils to games like Final Fantasy 14 where the "Ancients" have such incredibly beautiful eyes. And FF7R tops even that.

Technically they already had their remakes and remasters, some of them that were 2D became 3D like FF3 and FF4, but nothing as impressive as the new FF7. I'd love them to get a new game in this level of graphics! But FF3 for the PSP isn't bad, pretty cute chibi graphics.

Thats not true.. PS3 Footage is real time.. its a tech demo. Look how FF13 looked in realtime graphics back then on ps3. And in PS4 remake the part after the train arrived is realtime graphics, too .. the transition after the train steam/fog disappears
