Love how Braun says that the toilet always flushes, and the shower always has hot water. Let's you know that both those aren't true. Nice. Also, why is it that everyone one of these dorm tour videos has the maintenance dudes in the worst/smallest rooms? Does the Air Force have it out for them?

Fun fact: My dad and I did a lot of the finish work on the dorms back when I was in high school (2002 or so, I think). I was impressed with their layout!

I was at beale in 1978. You had bathrooms down the hall and shared a tiny space.

Quite an improvement from Fairchild in the 80s, and that's actually when a lot of the upgrades from the claptrap WWII buildings had started. My first dorm room was a in a newer remodeled dorm. It was two to a room with one sink in the room. The bathroom had a tub and a shower and was shared by the adjacent room or four people. You accepted all of the furniture and were not allowed to switch anything out, you could buy your own sheets, but that was it. My second room was Bldg 646 (long since torn down), this building was two to a room and had four bays two upstairs and two downstairs, one gang bathroom per bay each bay had about 20 rooms.

Is it all covered by the airforce? I mean, I do not have to pay for rent right? What about if I just finished my bmt as enlisted, can I get a room such as these ones on base? Deam that would be pretty amazing!!!

Problem is.... the more common area, pod mates share, the more mess, or opportunity for someone not to clean up after themselves... There is a weekly dorm inspection, one fails, you all fail, for messy kitchen etc. dirty bathtub/shower, toilet... yuck, no thanks, Im not leaning someone else mess. 1970's barracks, you had one room-dog, one in room sink and mirror, everything else was down the hall to a large restroom/sinks/showers. With a two man room and only a sink to clean, inspections are a breeze.
@urachunt33776 жыл бұрын
room inspections in the air force are extremely rare.... the air force tends to not treat it's members like children like the other services do...

it depends on your job, you have a higher chance if you become a KC 135 air tanker mechanic. but the Air Force sends you where they want you, you can put it on your assignment dream sheet though, then you have a even higher chance of being assigned at Fairchild.
