According to AVGN, on the built in "Super Pong" game, using the Z-axis of the controller moves the goal paddles up and down. The Channel F controllers were sold separately. They were 9-pin VCS compatible. On a VCS/2600, the directions worked as they did on a regular stick. The rotation feature did nothing (not paddle compatible) and pushing down on the stick acted as the action button while pulling up did nothing. My mom bought me two of the control sticks because a lady at the video rental store convinced her they were the greatest things ever. One broke almost immediately. The second lasted for several months before it gave up the ghost. I disliked them, but they weren't as bad as Colecovision ontrollers. According to Wikipedia, Alien Invasion was the last official game released for the system in 1981. At that point Atari's adaptation of Space Invaders with it's two player simultaneous play had been out for a couple of years. I nearly fell out of my chair laughing when you played Hangman. There is a homebrew Pac-Man game for the system. I recall it being sold in physical form sometime around 2010.

I think more modern consoles could do with directly verbally abusing their customers. I wish I could turn on a PS5 and it'd call me a VIRGIN or TURKEY upon bootup.
