Cleveland will never forget how great Kenny Lofton was. Scoring from second on a pass ball in the 1995 ALCS was my favorite Kenny moment.

I met Kenny Lofton when he played for the Cleveland Indians, Kenny supported the RBI (reviving baseball in inner cities) program. Stand up guy, he’s all about the game, doing things right. I will never forget catching the first pitch from him. Awesome times.

Kenny Lofton at his peek was all over the field , this was the dude who got hits , stolen bases , score runs , and play gold glove defense , I remember watching the Wayans bro tv show as a kid , and Kenny Lofton did a guest appearance so he was known all over ! Kenny Lofton would be so valuable in today's game due to the fact that the game got harder and his specific skill set can be used on every ball club !! #7 for ever !

Kenny Lofton! Watch his highlights. This guy terrified pitchers. If he got a walk, the defense was on edge, as well as the pitcher. Watch his highlights. He knew the game better than most anyone on the field. And that patented "go the other way" crazy swing. Junk ball, fast ball, curve ball: he just seemed to appear on 1st base. Then second. Or score from second on a passed ball. Oh, and robbing home runs? If he was playing in LA or NY he would have been in the HOF 15 years ago. But his numbers are all there to admire. In his time, a great hitter could scare a good pitcher. When Kenny Lofton got on first, all 9 defenders were scared. And the opponent's manager. If Kenny Lofton was your opponent that day, you had to plan on how he could beat your team 10 ways. Kenny is legend in my world.

Y Marina I agree. He doesn’t have hall numbers, which unfortunately for him matters. He doesn’t have the hit, hr, rbi, and run totals, even for a guy who scored lots of runs. What he does have is a significant number of stolen bases, gold gloves, and a solid career average. In the 90s, he was one of the most dominant players in baseball on the basepaths and in centerfield. I was an Orioles fan and hated him. But I respect him. I admire how he focused on speed, defense, and getting on base.
@chrisseger23464 жыл бұрын
@@Boondoggle2222 You've highlighted the exact issue with the HoF. Its standards for someone to be inducted are ridiculous - it makes it seem like hitting is the only thing that matter in baseball. People like Kenny Lofton and Omar Vizquel are living proof that defense is as important, if not more-so, than hitting.

Kenny Lofton also played guard for Arizona Wildcats in the late 80s. He is from East Chicago and saw him play in the Indiana high school basketball semi state in 1985. He was a great MLB hitter, center fielder, base stealer and in the lineup everyday and had a long career.

Lofton belongs in the Hall of Fame, end of discussion. The veterans' committee or whomever has the ability needs to make that happen ASAP. If he was playing today and did the same things he did back then he would be considered a first-ballot HOFer because he wouldn't be overshadowed by the juicers. Right this wrong, Cooperstown.

Yea it's definitely unfortunate that he played in the "steroid era" he played when players like , Barry Bonds , mark Mcguire , Rafael palmaro, Roger clemens, Juan Gonzalez, jose consaeco, and even his own teammate albert Belle were in their primes using that juice , so while they were putting up god numbers , people started to think Kennys game was under value, when in reality teams are paying 150 million dollar contracts TODAY for Loftons skill set and what he used to do for his ball club

Good points. Back when I cared about baseball, I used to wonder about all of those players that could not break into the league because some 250 pound roid gorilla's were occupying those roster spots. Now, I say just let them all in to the Hall and include some of those fringe players as well. At the end of the day, nobody really cares. The game already has its scars and the MLB just needs to own it. Personally, I think Lofton should be in either way... 6 time All-Star, 4 time Gold Glove...15th all time in SB's. Get him in there.

Just two things here. He is the last person that would ever need steroids. He was always so skinny & quick as a leadoff hitter. With all those stolen bases. 2nd I always wondered how his relationship playing with Albert Belle was? That guy always seemed like a loose cannon. From what I heard belle would be wired & act crazy. When he got kicked out of a game for using a corked bat. One of their teamates snuck through a crawl space to retrive the bat from the locker room. Then switched it with a regular bat.
