I was born in Dewsbury and in the 1950s our family lived in Mirfield. We made many visits to Greenhead Park which to me was a place of wonder. But very sadly I haven't been there for over 60 years. Oh dear.

Thank you so much for your message. I am really sorry you didn't come to visit Greenhead Park for so long. When it's quite, this place is remarkable. I have a few videos with Greenhead Park in all seasons. Especially in the autumn, the park is spectacular. Mirfield is a very nice place. I quite understand why you do not visit Huddersfield more often. Mirfield is a peaceful place. I hope one day you will revisit Greenhead Park. Please, choose a not very crowded day for your future visit. Have a nice weekend. ❤

@@almafromengland8697 Thank you. For the last 50 years, apart from two years during which I lived abroad, I have lived in London. The last time that I was in West Yorkshire was almost 20 years ago when I visited my late brother who lived at Birkenshaw near Bradford. I have made comments on a few more of your videos but perhaps you have not seen them. Best wishes for a lovely weekend.

Hello there. This was a truly beautiful video. This video shows how the simple things in life are often the best. Just spending time with our loved ones in such peacefull surroundings is such a wonderful thing. I feel we should cherish these moments. Seeing Michael sitting peacefully looking over the pond is such a lovely image, I am sure he has many a good story to tell about his life in Huddersfield. Your videos never fail to put a smile on my face and warm my soul and for that I thank you. Oh and its nice to see that I'm not the only one who thinks a hot dog at the fair is essential, plenty of onions and ketchup for me please. Take care and stay blessed.

I have not enough words to thank you for this generous comment. I feel the same when I go somewhere with my hubby. It's so much peace and joy in my heart when we have a walk together. The fair is a lot better in Greenhead Park than it used to be when it was in Leeds Road. Although, it doesn't matter where we go, the happiness is almost the same. Thank you do much for your words. And yes, you are right about the hotdog. Great simple choice. Have a peaceful and sunny weekend. 💖💖💖

I remember going to Chipperfield's and Billy Smart's Circus' at Greenhead Park every year as a child growing up in the 1950s. Thanks for sharing the video Alma.

That's so correct. And the band plying on the band stand. And the prolific flower displays, when Fred Smith was in charge of the park. I have to admit these are Michael's memories which I'm sure are yours too. I bet you have great memories about Huddersfield. Thank you for watching my video. Thank you for nice comment. Have a jolly weekend. ❤️

@@almafromengland8697 My first school was 'The Mount' which used to be on Park Avenue overlooking Greenhead Park. The school moved to a large Mill Owners house nearby many years ago. There used to be an open air stage theatre in the Park a little further down than the school. It was very popular in the Summer months, Sadly it isn't there any more. Greenhead Park, Norman Park and the 'Rec' opposite were my childhood playgrounds. Happy memories indeed.

My family lived on Park Avenue, just across Greenhead Road. Their early memories were in Springwood Hall and Michael's youth was spent in Greenhead Park. Did you ever see Springwood Hall???❤❤
@85waspnest11 ай бұрын
@@undeniablyhappy6641I don't recall going to Springwood hall, or where it is. Park Avenue is where the Mount School used to be in the 1950s, I don't know when it moved to later. One of my friends from Fartown Secondary school lives on Park Avenue.

PS Those girls seemed to be good duck feeders at the end. Anyhow, are you doing anything, this Bank Holiday Weekend as speaking of steam train I might go on one with Suzanne at The Keighley And Worth Valley Railway on Monday?
