Spongebob is like Cartoon Network's Teen Titans Go where they're relying on one show that's doing really well, and if your show isn't up to par with it then they'll either cancel or overshadow it with more spongebob. Except, all they have to do is just show 'less' spongebob to gauge audience interest in other shows, but just like teen titans go, when most of your time slot is one show, they won't get the proper chance to be shown and won't get enough viewership.

No offense to anyone, but Spongebob isn't all that good. I mean, the classic episodes were great, but compared to Fairly Odd Parents? I found FOP to be MUCH more entertaining. I could also relate to it more (minus the fairies and sadistic babysitter) than I did with Spongebob. It also taught lessons. As I recall, Spongebob hardly, if not ever taught lessons. If it did, it was more of a joke than anything. I guess it's a similar case to why Teen Titans GO! is airing so much, and lasted long enough to get a movie. Kids prefer dumb humor over quality. Not that the original first couple seasons of Spongebob weren't quality, but compared to FOP (all the way up to Poof, anyway, for me) were overall better and more entertaining. To each their own, but at least we got an inside word. Yes, Nick DOES only care about Spongebob, and cancels anything that isn't exactly that. Reasons why CN > Nick (even with TTG taking over). Hey Butch! Since you left Nick, why not try for Cartoon Network? You could try your Elf Detective on there, or even Toonami (even if your anime-style isn't genuine anime from Japan)!
