Hi Ian, I only just found your channel, and I'm very impressed with your layout. It's very interesting and I like the way you have essentially, two layouts in different areas, one above the other; much as I do! My lower layout is my main one, set in modern day times on the Ohio / Indiana / Kentucky border, while the upper layout is set in the Pacific North West in 1979! I'll be watching your channel with much interest as you progress.

Hi there thanks for your feedback - I'd never thought about a different era on the top deck but I like that idea a lot!!

BTW your exSP is a SD38 or SD39 evident by the two longhood radiator fans(SD40 has three).And your UP 1337 is a GP40-2😊

Interesting layout . I think some more scenery would help. What you've done is good.

Thanks for your interest - yes the landscaping is a long, slow process but I'm getting there bit by bit!

Cool vidoe. YA speed matching is no joke. I've gotten really good at it. Also learned that using multiplke decoders makes it harder. Especially the locos with Proprietary decoders. Scale trains for example i dumped the lok sound decoder and put in a Tsunami 2. Lost lost of lights. Sucks they have to do that!
@ianroberts6929 Жыл бұрын
Yes I'm beginning to realise that too many decoders can cause problems. I am determined to get this sorted over the winter months!

Hi bud, great update. There was a lot of good ideas and information in this one. I really enjoy watching your video's. That scene on the new upper deck with the grade crossing and the power poles looks awesome, the composition of that scene looks great, like a real life area. I hope to see a switching opps video of the upper deck. Keep up the fantastic work friend, take care, Dave B.

Excellent looking layout, looks like you have a wide variety of motive power and paint schemes, just like the 1:1 railroads. Any eastern US (NS or CSX) power?
@ianroberts692910 ай бұрын
Hi thanks for your kind comments - I really like the CSX colours so I'm on the lookout for something suitable to run as 'foreign power', but locos are not that easy to get hold of here in the UK!

Very nice conceptualization of you layout. I like your honest recounting of your thinking as you moved through the layout building process. Having the branch in your study with to larger layout in the garage seems like it will scratch two issues effectively. I've subscribed and thank you for sharing.

Nice layout. Fairview should have a feed mill or grain elevator and an oil dealer as many small North American/Canadian towns would have these. Cheers

That’s a good idea thanks, though my layout is already pretty cramped - I dream of a bigger layout room one day to fit in more industries!

hey quick question, What Radius curves do you use on your layout?
@ianroberts69296 ай бұрын
My minimum radius on the corners of the layout are 24”, and I add easements as the curves transition back to the straight. Thanks for your query, hope that helps!

Haven't watched the whole clip yet. Only a couple of minutes into it but I like what you're driving at: kind of making your own rules and railroad. Why not just create your own paint scheme, corporate logo, etc...? That's what I do in N-scale, but modeling Texas and it's industries.

Hi thanks for your comments - I have wondered about a paint scheme before, maybe I'll give it a try one day!

@@ianroberts6929 It's something to consider. The legendary Allen McClelland's free-lanced, original railroad, The Virginian and Ohio, is what got me into the hobby eons ago, (@1970). Mine is called The Texas Gulf Line and I keep, to-form, what Texas railroads haul - lots of oil, petrolchemicals and grain, and intermodal.
