So Day 4, you will see us head on to Isle of Skye and visit Fairy Glen, its a bit of a tourist spot, but the day went well.. With a group of vans we have to plan around where we can park. Please pop us a comment and let me know what you think.

Rain, rain and more rain. You lot must have come home with webbed feet after paddling through that day after day. I agree with Mrs C Paul. You (and Steve) are totally barmy but you obviously get high on atrocious weather conditions and it brings out the best in you. Can't wait for day 5 📷👍

Those were not atrocious conditions mate, thats a normal early winter day with a bit of breeze :) You WOULD have been crying if it was summer - eaten alive by by the most predator midges in the world. I drove that road so many times in the 1970's, often with no tarmac, just to go climbing and fiching - happy wet days. What a fantastic island Skye is.

These destinations are so popular with domestic and foreign tourists that parking and traffic even out of season is a problem. In many cases its hire cars and hire vans, over recent years the police have had no choice but to remove cars from the roads and even shut them.

Epic conditions, perhaps a way of thinking of it is that you 'got lucky' with the weather and the place wasn't so busy. I felt sorry for those poor sods sent out to mend a path. Full Scottish ...... where's the square sausage and the white puddin' ? People who can't drive ...... glad there isn't a recording device in my car; although I've got a few scrapes on my rear bumper from low rocks hidden in long grass.

Hi Paul, I enjoyed the video and the images you managed to capture despite the weather. I have been visiting Skye for 50 years but I'm afraid this year was my last time. Yes the weather was bad too in October but the volume of tourists and the erosion caused by them in what were lovely locations has spoilt the beauty and tranquillity of the island. I really feel that they are continuing to encourage visitors without providing sufficient infrastructure to support them. The highlands are a fantastic place thank goodness and in future I will visit the places that are not described in the tourist information. Sorry if this sounds a bit negative but I was so disappointed this year.

Hi Peter, I think because of covid and the hassle of travelling abroad more people have stayed in the UK for their annual holidays. I'm hoping when we return to a more normal way of life (🤞🤞) more will head for the sunshine and it will settle down a bit.
@paulcomptonpdphotography2 жыл бұрын

Love Skye but my last trip was in 2013. I'd had enough with the tourists (of which I was one) as I don't live there. Its good for the local economy but disastrous for the local infrastructure and ecology and the local council can't balance the books. Of course with British people staycationing it may have upped the numbers but as most people I've met there were from aboard and those figures have crashed it probably evens out. The lockdown was possibly one of the best things that could have happened to the island in the short term and given the locals a break.
@peterkennington10432 жыл бұрын
@@paulcomptonpdphotography Yes I've seen the paths they have put in at all the locations but they are insufficient for the volume of traffic and thus visitors don't keep to them and the bog gets boggier
