I bought his dvd and its so clear and straight to to the point. If you want to get faster and learn more theory go get it because he is a great teacher at explaining the ways to properly play this ancient instrument.

Faisal THANK YOU for your wonderful instructional video. Because there are people out there like you, the art continues to exist in an amazing way. If you are ever in Cyprus let me know. All the very best.

Great to see this broken down, all three ways. But there is something magic that happens between medium and full-speed on the double-ka method. I can't quite make out what it is, but it's some kind of play between the middle finger and thumb driving the ring finger. Most obvious is how relaxed the ring finger is. Many thanks for the clearest demonstration around.

The Turkish style you move your wrist instead of you finger joints as in the arabic style. Because you do that you can make faster roles.

And also I want to add that if you are about to play with turkish style that means you should develope your index finger especially on the solo hand. I was lucky to be in Kiev at Misirli`s master class, and he told us to develope this finger (index) and gave some exersizes.

the arabic style is akin to tabla tirikita strokes, but opposite!

Double ka's can be played fast enough for almost any type of music. Sure the actual movement of the Turkish split finger is faster, but it ends up just being a "brush" like sound. I prefer the cleaner sound of the double ka's.
@Kamamura22 жыл бұрын
No, thank YOU! BTW I have been drilling this for months and months, and it's still not satisfactory. But I will get it one day!
@Lehmann10816 жыл бұрын
Why do so many people rave about the Turkish split-finger technique (index-ring) when the only difference between it and the traditional Arabic technique (ring-index) seems to be the order of the fingers. Am I missing something here?

No body will give you the secret for free... Great technique but he is still hiding it from us.

No he is not, you just need to practice more. It may take you few years before you get there.

the argument is not which finger you lead with, its single finger double ka's Classic arabic/syrian style usually cleaner, but that could be cause its typically played slower ( hold your comments on speed, I haven't seen ANYBODY do single finger ka's as fast as the turkish double blur or double stroke roll for you purists ) vs two finger turkish doubles.
