'The hunter' ending was honestly my favorite ending of them all. It added this extra bit of absurdity and supernatural feeling to it. The deer killing John had nothing to do with the main plot, which makes it even more intriguing imo. The music/sound design during that last scene combined with John's perceived desperation while he drags himself toward his crucifix really made it extra eerie to me. It had nothing to do with the main plot, but it sure didn't feel out of place.

34:05 there's something so epic about this part to me. This four legged demon that's been confidently chasing and mutilating you the whole game attempts an attack one final time, and got shot with a rifle. The way it stumbles away slowly while bleeding is so cool, since it finally shows the beast fearful for once (not when dispersed by the crucifix) and then is hit by a truck with the dev company's name on it. That entire scene is just so cool to me. Not to mention the distorted screaming when actually shot. I think that's what sold it for me.

just goes to show that more isnt always better. you dont have to be in someones face to scare the shit out of them. i played omori recently, and all it took to scare me was looking in the mirror and seeing something directly behind me. i stared at the screen for the longest time, afraid to move because i didnt want to look behind me and have it still be there. it was simple. there was no jumpscare, or loud violin sting. and that was more scary, because it didnt feel like the creators were shaking me by the shoulders like "YOURE SCARED, RIGHT?!" it was just there. and then it was gone. and i was left to try and figure out what tf just happened.

For those who want to know about the other endings End 2- Father and Son: shoot the mysterious gray man and return to your car, John will begin praying but then Michael (the white demon in the forest) will be revealed to have hidden himself in the car and attack John. The end screen is a letter talking about how Michael can be saved, but the writer needs more time. The letter is adressed to Cardinal Gifford End 3- the offering: after shooting the sacrifice and returning to your car a group of cultists will stop John. The end screen is a letter adressed to Amy from a cultist named Gary. Gary will ask Amy to visit him at the Clinic for a special meeting

@@duckfilms3662 sorry for late response! Blasphemous and Blasphemous 2 are combat/exploration (think dark souls) religious horror games based specifically around the Spanish Inquisition. Both are really good. Outlast is always a classic but it doesnt itch the same scratch for me. Darkwood is a game that isnt strictly religious horror but it has a good artstyle and it definitely includes some religious themes throughout (pagan and christian).
