Y’all are ridiculous in these comments. Faith was a murderer in a rapist. What did Buffy do? And there were consequences for all of their actions. Especially if you watch the entirety of season seven when Giles and Anya try and find that secret eye thing to tell them, why, the first of all evil is there, basically resurrecting Buffy, I think was the reasoning behind Tara’s, death, and the killing of all those potential‘s. The characters on Buffy face nothing but consequences for their actions. And how is Buffy never held accountable for her actions? The way that the fandom as a collective immerse themselves in faiths redemption arc is severely toxic. And I know that the show is science fiction, but. if someone stole your body raped, you and your boyfriend and then murdered a bunch of people even after you gave them multiple second chances. Hopefully all of you in the comments would do better than Buffy, and forgive Faith, even if she spit in your face multiple times.

@@robynr810 Spike killed tons of people + Slayers and so did Angel or Willow when she turned evil but everyone still forget about it. Spike tried to R*pe Buffy too and there are still thousands of ppl who are shipping them. What Faith did to riley was wrong, but at least she didn't force him, just made him believe it was Buffy.

Buffy becomes pretty unbearable when it comes to faith, literally everyone has done bad things even buffy and yet faith is considered the only un-redeemable one in the eyes of buffy? Yet Angel and spike have killed way more innocent people. The reality is she is such a threat to her superior moral complex of being the "slayer" that buffy cant stand to share it with another Slayer. Just like Angel "it was not about you buffy" and that is literally buffys weakness. Faith> buffy.

Buffy considers Faith unreadeamable because to her fighting Faith means fighting the same darkness that she has inside, because if it wasn’t for the Scooby gang, since they have the same powers, she could’ve turned exactly as Faith or even worst. Also Faith’s betrayal was a lot more personal to Buffy than any others because Faith was the only person that could understand her, share her pain and struggles as a Slayer so when Faith betrayed her it was like destiny telling her:”you are supposed to be alone, to suffer alone as the slayer”. That’s why Buffy is way “harsher” to her than anyone else and at the end they even go back to what they were before Faith killed that man. That wasn’t only Faith’s turning point but Buffy’s as well as she saw what she could do if she isn’t careful.

I seriously believe that the only possible redemption for the Buffy/Angel characters is love. Without it, they have no moral compass, no motivation to change. Prison for the Slayer, are you serious? It's not a punishment for her if she can get out of it at any moment. Where is the real trial of the Slayer? Where is the real punishment? There is none, the Watchers' Council is not a trial, it's just control over the Slayer, nothing more. I think Spike should have been brought together with Faith. They would both have gotten a great redemption arc. And Spike's suffering would have at least made some sense. And so Buffy is just subjecting him to moral torture because she can't decide on her own feelings. As a result, you just don't believe in Faith's redemption.

What it comes down to is that Faith has been alone most of her life, she’s been abandoned by practically everyone she trusted at an early age. Her mom was abusive and an alcoholic who died, her father was in and out of prison, her Watcher, who was a guiding light for her, was brutally murdered by Kakistos and most of the guys she hooked up with were losers. As a result, Faith has deep-seeded abandonment issues and an almost all-consuming desire to be loved that others, like the Mayor, have manipulated for their own ends because of her power and abilities as a Slayer. And it’s also caused her major trust issues; that’s why she wasn’t ready to be friends with Buffy, or Angel until Faith finally broke down and admitted she needed help. Honestly, Faith is a lot like what Buffy would have ended up like if she didn’t have the strong support system she had (her mom, Dawn, Giles, her friends, Angel, etc.). But deep down, Faith is a very good person. She learns eventually what it’s like to be a true hero.
