LIVE FROM A TREE HOUSE- Pilot Online Episode #1 w/Chuck Mosley of Faith No More/Bad Brains. Hosted/created by Derek "Deek" Diedricksen.
So I talked to his backing band, and as this was shot a mere four weeks or so before Chuck's passing, this stands as one of his last "studio" performances, and one of his last filmed (aside from iPhones at his last few live shows) performances in general. I'm so glad we got it all on tape (and about another 30 minutes of interviewing beyond what you'll find here).
Whatever the case, I hope some of you enjoy it, and I am thankful that I had a chance to meet Chuck before he "shuffled off this mortal coil", as they say. He was a very open and friendly guy, incredibly easy to work with, and so very appreciative of his fans- all of which I could gather within mere minutes of talking to him before the cameras rolled. He also left his pack of Marlboro Blacks in my front foyer, which still sits, eerily, exactly where he forgot them only weeks prior. I can't bring myself to move them yet- something about it doesn't yet feel like it'd be right to.
Charles Henry Mosley III was also humble and shy- surprising for someone who lived a good deal of his life on stage, but charming and respectable at the same time. You'll see throughout the interview that he progressively warms up and gets more talkative as time passes. "Thats how Chuck always was in front of a camera", according to Douglas Esper, Chuck's touring percussionist.
I didn't know Chuck, at all, but he instantly was a fascinated person who seemed to have so much more about him than just music- and we talk about some of that later in the interview.
All in all, I'm honored that he thought this VERY ODD Tree House video-shoot idea was something worthy of his time, and as he left, he not only signed the wall of our micro studio, but signed and cartooned over a vintage paint by numbers art piece that I handed him- something I will hold onto, and add to our "wall of fame" in this very tree house.
Thank You Chuck, wherever you are.

Chuck's originals can't be touched by even Mike. There's a heart and originality that is so genuine in each song. Of course the band is always amazing!

Chuck was the foundational singer of FNM and his songs had a personal touch that Patton never approached. All respect to them both. But Chuck had a much harder life and paid the ultimate price for his artistry

Chuck's voice cradled my coming into adulthood and the hopes that particular era of my life contained and expressed . "Introduce Yourself" is and always will be one of my favourite albums of all time . Repose en paix , légende !! Great Interview! I was so bummed Chuck passed... Growing up he was always around when FNM was in town from SF, and I have great memories skateboarding pools with him in the 80s, and just hanging around when he'd be over.. I never met Basquiat, but, in my impression, Chuck was very much of the same sort of personality. Its amazing to see someone reach full grown adulthood and still not develop the armor we all naturally develop in order to take on whatever 'crazy' life brings... He had a good heart. Great interview, though! Thanks for posting this!

We'll be back NEXT with a TON more TINY HOUSE tours- don't worry. I know this one is a huge change in topic and pace, but worry not, its back to small shelters, cabins, and tree houses before you can utter "splendid succulents succumbing to supercilious sandwich-serving seals!"

So COOL! As you can see from my photo, I'm a Rocker too, and we did a couple of FNM's songs. I had no idea he had died, seems like a great guy. I would get one of those glass domes like you put over collectibles, and put it over that pack of Marlboros right where it sits. It would make a fine conversation piece. R.I.P., Chuck, the Heavenly Band has another great member!

FNM wad great with Chuck and Mike. Different but equal. Even though I love Mike more I can't help but adore Chuck for all he did. And no, Epic/Mike didn't start Rapcore - Chuck did. Epic just kicked it into gear. Ask Korn for their opinion on the matter :)
