IMO, The Real Thing album was Faith No More's all-time tour de force moment. For me, the 'Real Thing' track was just trail-brazenly transcendental. I've never heard anything better than this in terms of crystallising a moment in time, capturing a unique, or perhaps ubiquitous, situation of sensual perfection... Only you can decide.....😎🤘

Great comment, I second this. This was the most epic album and next in line was maybe Angeldust.

First CD I ever owned. I played it nonstop. My roommate said I would get sick of it. Wrong. I listen to it now and I can’t help to think how many bands infused a little bit of the Faith No More style and sound.

I had a panic attack for the first time in my life last night. I saw my whole life in a movie, and I had the feeling that I was about to die. I was so scared. This song was what made me come down. Every feeling was so intense... This is the song of my life. This song is been with me for the most part of my life, and only yesterday I released how this is important to me. As a guy said in one of the comments, this song is a gift. especially at this moment in my life.

I had a manic episode once and listened to this song and thought they were singing about me directly to me and all the answers of life were being given to me.My favorite FNM song by far. It's poetry. I played it for the three days I was up.

Thank you Salty. I am much better now. My meds are doing well and I am stable. More than I was before they figured out what cocktail would be best for me. Since you have been through it you know what it's like. I hope that you are doing well yourself. Thanks again for your comment.

@@saltymahero9898glad you are doing better. I had a manic episode once and was sure I heard the deep meaning of existence (giant inside joke that it is) in every song lyric. For me, it was the Tool album Lateralus. The truth was right there for everyone to hear but we are generally all too busy with daily life to notice. But the universe was whispering to me from beyond the veil and I heard it. It was a wonderful experience. I started smoking tons of weed to mellow out and sleep and eventually, I thought I was the savior of humanity and would raise a hidden crystal ship from the earth and save us from malevolent alien invaders. I became a raging asshole and made my wife stay with family for a couple weeks while I loaded up my car to head out on the road. I got thrown out of my hotel and numerous other places and eventually ended up in jail. Before things went completely off the rails I did gain a deeper perspective on existence, similar to some of what's in this song. I think this song details the journey of a strong acid trip. And just like my manic episode, I've tried to hold on to the insights from a fleeting experience.

I believe you should be saying tool has an FNM-esque look seeing as they came many years before Tool and likely set the stage for them to even exist.

First line lyrics are drastically incorrect… “The essence of the SOUL” You can clearly hear the pronunciation in the audio despite what the text says.
