This looks like a great camera to have a small lens on for street and still be able to handle other lenses for other pro work. I cant help but think fuji got this one perfectly right within its line up of other x series cameras. I shoot my everyday with x100v because it's weather sealed as well now since the upgrade. This xe4 is not weather sealed but is small enough for street while giving interchangeable lenses. But if you already have something like an xt3 or 4 then you may not be looking for something like this. Additionally this feels like an xpro3 with that tilt screen ppl were asking for but again, my guess is if you've bought into an xpro3 or are waiting for the 4, this might not be worth it for you. With every bit of those qualifiers, in the end it means fuji has schemed perfectly from their latest version of each- XT4, x100v, xpro3, xe4, etc. To give a reason to look at each one to handle similar tasks depending on your needs.

I've got the 27mm on my X-E3 and it's a great street setup. Gives approximately 40mm fov. Not too far not too close. My only gripe is with the colors. I don't know if it's a fuji thing, but I have a Nikon D5600 with a 50mm 1.8G and the colors produced look way better. So when I use the fuji I shoot and finalize in black and white.

I appreciate this review which feels much more about the user experience and aligned with case use more than something that seems to be a simplistic hot take on what's missing yadda yadda yadda. I think there may be too many reviewers that aren't thinking about use case and interactivity with the how a photo can be made with the X-E4. Since the X-E4 has the same chip and processor, the emphasis on review *should be on HOW one takes photos, not what buttons they miss, etc.

I had an X-E2 for a short time and biggest challenge for me was muscle memory going between that camera and the X-T3 being that the viewfinder was in different spots. so I ended up selling it. The XE series are all underrated. I still use an XE-1, and it is still an excellent camera for street photography. Coupled with vintage glass from Jupiter, Nikon, Hexanon and particularly Zuiko, it's similarity in size and function to the old rangefinders makes it great fun. Save yourselves a lot of money, buy an old XE and some Zuiko lenses and enjoy the delights of manual focus.

I have that same silver lens on my black X-E1 and sometimes on my black X-Pro2, it gives them a sexy modern retro look. I have the Fujifilm X-T20 with the 27mm lens and it is a good compact setup. I had the X-100F for a couple of weeks but I had to return it when I discovered it had a sticky aperture. Although the X-100F was compact and a solid unit, the option to have interchangeable lenses is something to deeply considered (based off my experience).

I don't mind X-E4 being smaller and not having IBIS or WR although WR would have been neat. Hate the fact they got rid of most of the customizable buttons. Love the fact I can set up X-E3 the way I want it without having to use the menu or touch screen too much . That way I can concentrate on shooting and not needing to take my eye off EVF when everything is within a touch of a button. Not sure why Fuji decided to get rid of M-C-S switch and rear dial.... But my gripe is still with the EVF. Fujifilm could have made it much better and more user friendly to people with glasses. Or at least make an accessory eyecup of some sort to fix some of the issues regarding the X-E lines EVF. Initial videos from other KZbinrs have mentioned it having the same annoying problems as its previous predecessor.

@fredbloggs5453 жыл бұрын
I suspect that most don't use the ISO dial and assign it to the Fn key or Q menu. I rarely touch ISO, mine is left in one of the custom ISO ranges to float around as required. Weather sealing adds to the cost.

The reason I’m still holding on to the Xpro3 is the weather sealing. Once I have it and coupled with WR lenses, I basically have a camera i bring anywhere anytime. If only the XE4 has weather sealing, i would’ve been sold to it. Otherwise, if the XE form factor is still my preference, I would go for the older XE2s, that camera is compact, has flash builtin and colors of the older xtrans has ‘deeper tones’ than the newer generations
