I bought both this case and the ZULU case! The Zulu case build quality is simply unmatched. But the ESR Shift has unmatched functionality! I found myself smiling once I realized how ergonomically comfortable it was to use the iPad while elevated with sidecar and universal control. UC with a MacBook and an iPad in portrait mode is awesome by the way. The ZULU won't allow for this to happen even with a stand because the magnets are in the cover so it can only hang in landscape mode when in the case. That's where the two piece case/cover comes in first place for the innovation award on the ESR Shift! The case on the Shift seems a bit on the cheap side BUT has really strong magnets and when hanging on a magnetic stand, fridge, or wherever else your heart desires, its an extremely enjoyable experience in portrait or landscape mode. Then I take things up a notch and I pair it to my ps5 controller for some COD Mobile and I realized that, after elevating the screen on the first notch, aside from build quality this case is way more innovative and will surely promote more use! If ESR can address the lack of quality and bring it up to the level of the ZULU case they would easily have the best case on the market and would be well deserving of a $20 price increase to match the ZULU case!

This is exactly what I ended up getting for my new iPad since the company I like didn’t have their new design out yet. I really liked that it had a separate case that magnetizes so I logically thought the keyboard case they have would work interchangeably, but no. Huge oversight because you can’t just pull it off the kickstand case and throw it on the keyboard. Really super bad oversight for that company.

@ they are called Zugu cases. They are out now but I was past return window by the time it released and didn’t want to spend money on another one. Great design though! Mine still looked new after like 3 or so years of use.

@ it’s very stable at all angles. It is notched and and then magnetized inside the notches to keep it in place. You can pick it up, move around and it will stay at the angle you choose for it. If you’re asking about magnetism for sticking it onto things like a fridge, I never did that much but they do show that it is meant to do that decently as well

If it had a microfiber-like surface against the screen, this would be a no brainer compared to the Zugu, as the ESR screen mount options would be great to have. But with the the plastic surface against the screen I’m sorry I have stay with the Zugu.

How's the stand for FaceTime or video chats? Seems like there's no good upright angle for that and the angle faces to high up with the camera. Our kids use it from Zoom classes online and they are shorter or at desk level.

The thickness of the inner case unfortunately doesn’t allow it to work on the Magic Keyboard. I am actively using the new ESR keyboard and will be dropping the review for it next week!

When you put the pencil behind the case you broke the connection of ipad-pencil. Esr rebound version has a place that hold the pencil with magnet when pencil is in the right place. You can hold pencil in secure and while charcing also with connection. So I will purchase rebound version. This is very important thing for selection. Thanks.
