Thank you for the shout out my friend!! I'm glad you liked the slip! I think that one is one of a kind :) I've been stamping the skull on my slips as signature. Than you for all the kind words. I felt them BM was worth buying as a learning and teaching tool. Really excellent comparison! If you think you can get it back together, feel free to take it apart!

Of course! Thank you for the sweet slip and bead! And yeah, I do think there’s value to showing ways to identify the fakes as it can hopefully prevent people from losing money and raise awareness to be on the lookout for them. Thanks for watching my friend! 👊🏼⚔️

I wanted to check one, so i picked a 940 but in black handles and black blade. Paid US$24. I was impressed. Apart from the blade steel which could be D2 or 8cr15mov the quality is up there with the original, if not better. It seems like their QC never fails.

I won’t cry for Benchmade either! I don’t mind knives that are “similar” to other knives or “inspired” by other knives. Too many people scream that everything is a Benchmade clone, which is just ridiculous. What I do have a problem with are knives that try to deceive people with other company logos or knife names. Good stuff brother👊🏻

Thank you for the video, really enjoyed to hear your opinion on this topic. I just bought a benchmade clone from Amazon (because the knife is not allowed to carry in Germany and therefore 200+€ were to much for me) it is definitely lower quality, interacting with the lock is pretty uncomfortable because it does not stick out so far. But it looks really nice and the lock works, so for me it is fine, however I probably would not by another clone and stick to the originals for the rest of my collection. Unfortunately there are sooo many cool knifes which are not league to carry in Germany… and so few nice ones which are. Great video, keep it up!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Being outside the US does make it tougher, especially for US made knives which are already pricey and even more so for you. Thanks for watching!! 👊🏼⚔️

Pretty interesting to compare this counterfeit to real 940. Kind surprising how good it is for being a $9 knock off. I think the key thing when making a clone, or copying another design, is if it is trying to be passed off as a benchmade. Whereas Ganzo might copy other designs but at least they make their own knives with their own names.
@UncommonEDC Жыл бұрын
Agreed, really impressive what they were able to do for the price, if only they’d use that to make knives more like Ganzo where it isn’t as blatant of a copy. Appreciate you checking it out! 👊🏼⚔️

Def not a fan of clones, copies, fakes etc. Just put the effort into making your own product! And as a consumer there’s plenty of good, honest budget options out there. If you’re in the market for higher end stuff, buy from reputable/authorized dealers only.

@@UncommonEDC No problem I just wondering. China makes way more steel than us now so figured they could put better steel in for cheaper. Some people thinks cause china pays less money to workers is only reason stuff is cheaper but that’s probably the least of it. Main reason is because no permits for building buildings do dirt work and so no red tape what so ever if China government wants it their no lawsuits no environmental issues nothing. That’s why their passing us now. We have way to many regulations in the way. They can now make very good stuff. They started out as metal top sheds and now their cities look way better than ours. We created a monster for us and going wish we hadn’t for our kids sake.

Thanks very much for this video and for discussing this rather controversial topic, it's far too easy to just ignore the elephant in the room sometimes. I too have a counterfeit knife in my collection, it was acquired by mistake however. Like you, I don't support purchasing fake knives (or anything for that matter) and I agree with what you said here. I really like that you showed a direct comparison. Well done. 👍Take care my friend and Cheers!

It’s a tough conversation for sure, on the one hand I am firmly against ever buying one myself and in the other, I understand a couple of the legitimate reasons somebody might buy one (including some I didn’t list but popped up in the comments such as international availability). At the end of the day though, I can only decide how I approach it and try not to judge if anyone else has a different opinion on it (unless they are using them to scam in which case I definitely judge 😂). Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts on it!

My sister got one of those to hit a free shipping threshold and because it reminded her of Dad's 960. Hers may be marked m390 😂 i dont even think hers has washers, just running against the plastic. Was definitely a "thats dumb, imma get it to be dumb" situation. Def not for buying clones, but dumb knock-offs... theres humor value, imo.

Very cool of you to shout out the bead guy. Like & sub,will also check out your friend. I have nice /expensive knives,but,not a collector /seller. I lose every single knife with a pocket clip. Getting a titanium scale 940 or 945 fake & going to try 1 more times…WITH a actual BM short deep carry clip (bugout clip)heard that they have a tendency to not get snagged as easily. Will see. Thx for your time.

I appreciate it, thanks! And I have that problem when I clip things to my left pocket, my seat in the car likes to grab them as I slide out. Luckily they usually just fall under the seat though. Don’t seem to have the same issue on the right side though. Hopefully the short clip works for you. Thanks for watching!

Criminal minds can be very creative and skillful, nevertheless they usually end up doing or producing goods with disingenuous properties. It makes little sense to practical folks but crooks tend to follow that pattern. Another very obvious difference in the counterfeit product is the size of the Torx on the pivot screw. I am pretty sure that Benchmade produces them this way purposely, but on a genuine product that screw is always a T10, and on the clones it will be a T9. It is quite obvious to the naked eye when compared side by side with a genuine knife. It can be seen in this video. Great clip, by the way. Definitely worth watching and informational. I wish I’d seen it before I purchased my first Benchmade knife.

They are not clones, they are counterfeits and the people marketing them are criminals. A clone or reproduction would not be claiming to be made by Benchmade nor would it be marked as such. Knowingly selling this as a genuine Benchmade knife is also a Federal offense.
@UncommonEDC9 ай бұрын
Whatever you call it, I’m against it however I don’t think the companies making these counterfeits are too worried about US laws unfortunately.

@@UncommonEDC No they aren't, but the individuals here in the States should be cause if someone one day decides to prosecute, they could be liable whether they care or not. I wouldn't buy any of this crap just for that reason, let alone not supporting the criminals selling it.
