These DIY fake fall apples are great for decorating around the house or a tiered tray for fall. I'll show you how to make your own fake apples out of clay so you don't need to use the store bought ones. Plus we'll decorate them in three different ways...fake caramel apples, fake Halloween apples, and fake chocolate apples.

I would give it at least a few days. You can tell when it's dry by how it feels. It will lose the squishy feeling.

I made fake caramel apples last year only in the mini size, I thought they turned out so cute I put them on my tier tray, yours however are big and beautiful, and look like you could take a bite. lol

What finish do you put on your fake bakes? Mine are sticky even after weeks of air drying.

I use Mod Podge or DecoArt Gloss Varnish. Are you letting your clay or whatever dry before sealing it? If not, that may be the reason for the stickiness. The stuff underneath may still be trying to dry and causing the sealer to be sticky especially if you live somewhere humid.

@@CassieSmallwood yes I let it dry for several days. I have been using mod podge. Now I have been spraying with a satin sealer too.

@@claragolding9537 that's so weird. I've not had that happen. Could be something to do with humidity or weather where you live or reaction between the brand of clay and sealer.

You don't have to but if you have issues with things drying it would be a good idea.
