I absolutely love the remark you made about your uneven eyebrows being “part of the character of [your] face”! My eyebrows, far from being sisters, don’t even look related. Lately I’ve felt very self conscious about the asymmetry in my face, particularly my eyebrows and the fact that one eye is more hooded and sits lower than the other. But that idea of its being character rather than imperfection is really helping my perspective honestly!

Just talked about this with friends today. I always felt slightly uncomfortable during social occasions. And me having several chronic illnesses and being exhausted easily, i almost felt as if the way we have been living the past year and a half was a blessing. Being at home a lot, working from home had resulted in me having more energy. Only socialising with my inner circle had also eliminated the pressure from social gatherings. Going back to ‘normal’ scares me. Being in my safe bubble for so long i felt so peaceful.

I hear you. My 'outside' social skills have got rusty and till I went out and just did it I was unsure if those skills still existed! So a lot of 'faking it till making it' going on here in Dublin too. Hugs! 👋 Lisa, I haven't worn make-up for around 3-4 years due to the fact that I'm almost always housebound due to mobility, chronic pain and health reasons. I put on weight and was gradually losing my hair so my whole confidence was down the drain 😪 I went from being a sociable, healthy, tall slimish woman in her early 40's who wore full face make up and loved having different hairstyles to the complete opposite. I've just recently been diagnosed with Alopecia and have been offered the choice of 2 synthetic or 1 human hair wig so that's one boost and also have been provided with an electric wheelchair which hopefully will encourage me to venture out for walks with my hubby, family and our dog Tara. The only thing is I've no idea how to colour match my skin to a foundation and concealer. I am so white with really puffy dark undereye and purple hooded eyes and various skin blemishes like broken capillaries to dimpling of my chin..... So if you see this please HELP. It would be so much appreciated 💐💐 Ps I have been trying too look after my skin with face cleansers/ hyaluronic toner/ under eye depuff and help colour fade cream/ hyaluronic serum-cream and moisturiser if nessasary!!

To hear you talk about your personal struggles gives me a huge sigh of relief, I felt like I was being over dramatic or possibly overly sensitive about returning to society after almost 1.5 years later. It feels like the Twilight Zone, doesn’t it? Never in my life did I think this would happen, but it took us a year and a half to get here. I love this. I’ve just turned 42, and I’m starting a makeup artistry course at college next month and I’m absolutely terrified. Not least because I’ll likely be the “Granny” of the class. I’ve been a carer for the last few years and getting back out there is really big. And being at home all the time in the last year didn’t help, so I really felt everything you said in your intro. I work in a supermarket so I’ve still got the bus and gone to work all throughout the pandemic so things don’t feel too much different to me. I feel lucky in the sense I’ve still had the interaction and social aspect of work seeing colleagues and customers to be fair. I do feel for those who have been shielding and isolating for so long especially those who have had to do it alone it must have been really hard. On another note your velvet lipsticks have been something of a gift as I put it on each morning even tho nobody can see it but me 😂 it’s such a treat when I would go to the loo and see my Velvet Beauty, myth or muse still holding up under my mask 😁 x

Teaching from home has been a blessing since i can save money for gas, time, etc, but just having to work in your own 'zone' is so comfortable. Although i am slightly relieved that the pandemic is coming hopefully to an end, i do wonder what my life would/could be in the future after all this... I don't feel I have what it takes to 'rejoin' the old world because somehow I found my world in this time of tragedy.. Anyhow, love your video as always ❤️❤️

Best title ever, Lisa. This is a great subject. It's a life-changing sentence once one understands it fully. It is not about falseness, but moving (the energy) forward while there is not quite 'A forward' yet, but once you keep going, there will be. Anxiety is something that hits you in 'waves' and you must keep bringing yourself back into the NOW 600 times a day if need to. This is also the primary principle for healing and/or not to allow oneself falling into depression = into a sea of THOUGHTS. Every thought has a frequency = which produces a FEELING. One must recognize this process and stand up right away when you feel it begin. I notice that ACTION helps. Just stand up and start doing something, anything. There is no magic pill. It is about getting CONSCIOUS of it. One just stays focused, keeping oneself *in the present the moment as much as possible* (instead of fading away) and once this *catches momentum,* the wheel starts turning. Easier said than done, I'd agree... but one just has to keep going. We often refer to it as 'hang in there', - which is why the phrase: *fake it 'til you make it.* Extremely accurate I find.. ♡♡♡ xx..

I have had to fake it 'till make it, for 27 years now!! Yes. Most of the time anyway, and why not?! I find it helps with most people I'll come across in meetings and ... I don’t think it’s needing to wear makeup, I just love the ritual of using it, and it definitely makes me feel better, not scaring people as I start my day out in the world again xxx

My daughter used to worked at many events before she joined SIA as a cabin crew. She used to use a lot of make up and has many pairs of shoes just for many events styles requirement. I remembered waiting for her to finish her job at many locations in my car and sometimes at coffee shops nearby her event locations. Always enjoy her stories of meeting different people from different events she were hired for too.

Your tip about adding a wash of color under the eyes to help mascara along the lower lashline 🤯 ... totally giving this a try! Also, I second the thought about not going in with new makeup for this kind of situation. Tried and true products never fail! 😊 I always look forward to your videos, Lisa! 💖

Thank you 🌺. May I make suggestions for future videos? Would love for you to address asymmetry in faces a bit more. Sometimes a fuller cheek on one side reflects light differently or the eyelid real estate is much different, etc. i find sometimes makeup accentuates the asymmetry. Would love your take. Also, crepey under eyes and lip line solutions for older women in mid life (think 50’s not 70’s). Adore everything you do!

Thank you Lisa for bringing makeup back to my life. I had totally given up on makeup- skincare and sunscreen and perhaps a lip gloss was what I had got down to. Now, seeing you, I am getting interested again. I have changed. I am not going to binge buying makeup as before, but I am going to try to finish what I already have. Also, I have decluttered makeup, and thrown out the ones which I have had since ages. Now I have just a few makeup products, 2or 3 in every section.. which I think look best on me, and things I ise the most. Thank you Lisa

~you are Gorgeous.... without or with make-up! I Do understand what make-up does for one's confidence though! Thanks for the tips about the lashes too! No-one ever does a make-up for people like me. I have a Bells Palsy that is also as though I've had a stroke. Is there any chance you could do something like this Please? BTW You look so very pretty! You deserve to go out now! 😀

Thank you for recognizing the issues of anxiety, concern for going out (if it's really worth the risk) and the overall thought process of leaving home in a pandemic. This is completely normal and natural to feel a bit of concern and we all should pause, assess and stay safe. Keep wearing our masks.

Ahh you’re motivating me to “bring it” this week and put more effort in. I’ve felt uncomfortable in my body after more than a year of zoom and loungewear-nevermind social anxiety seems magnified 10x now. I so appreciate your gentle empathy and how you relate to people. 💜 from San Francisco

I Love how you talk about makeup you take the "vapidness" out of it and connect it to the mental part it is uplifting and confidence boosting to put on makeup we dont talk enough about the positive effect it can have on our confidence because we dont want to seem like we need it to feel confident.

You look beautiful. The change in your mood before and after was incredible!! At the begging, you felt not down, but, oh must I or do I have to? Like we all do these days, BUT my goodness, you were right, makeup does help a great deal in one's mood and confidence!! I'm sure they will be mesmerized by you as we are. Last Saturday was my sister's birthday, so " I faked it till I made it" :) Of course, wearing my Muse lipstick helped a lot. I love my Muse lipstick. I must say I think you have created a beautiful highlighter which I will be purchasing for sure. It's so different although you can see it quite well, looks very natural !! A lot of work has gone into making the highlighter. I have just ordered your lip gloss and treatment in Delilah, as it looks gorgeous. I love how you use different models from all different nationalities, it really helps, choosing a colour. I would buy most of them as they are all lovely. I cheat with my lips too and I feel much better after my lipstick is on properly. Thank you so much for this video. I love Lisa

Hi Lisa, I love the authenticity of your videos. I wondered if you would do a video aimed at women in their late 30s early 40s who are brand new to make up and want to get the basics right. I was blessed with strong features and nice even skin in my youth and honestly have never felt the need or desire to wear make up before now (plus had a heavy dose of patriarchal father-induced judgment against it which I had to grow out of). As I'm getting a bit older, I've discovered the FUN in femininity and playing with make-up and also that my skin is less even than it used to be and is starting to droop a bit in places. I'd like to learn how to use make up but I have no idea where to start. So many make up artists start WAY beyond where I am and I wondered if you would consider doing a "desert island, you can only bring 5 essential basic products and 3 essential brushes" video, for those of us on a budget, but like doing things "rights," and excited to start to learn? Thanks for considering it! :D

I know so many have said it before…. But watching and listening to your videos is so therapeutic. As a long time follower of your channel , over the years you have taught me so much about makeup and how to use it to present my best version of me. I am just about to turn 50, and to be honest my skin has changed in the last couple of years and so have my ‘concerns’. I’m inspired to go rewatch some of your earlier videos again x

I LOVE the message that you put in this Lisa! It’s something I definitely needed to hear. I’ve been a bit too trendy lately, trying to go lighter in coverage for my foundation and concealer, but it just doesn’t cover what I want it to. I’m super fair, so any redness or dark under eyes are very obvious and make me uncomfortable. What you said made me think that it’s ok if I want to cover a bit more than what trends say I should, since it will help me boost my confidence. Thank you for being a trustworthy voice on KZbin!

You're 100% right, we all have our own 'things!' I have dry skin, blonde barely-there eyelashes, and heavy blue allergy undereye circles. So for me it's concealer, mascara, and some cream blush! (been loving yours lately). Amen to the hesitancy and anxiety about peeking our heads out on this side of the pandemic... it feels weird and scary and I never thought I'd say that.
