I Hope you guys like this format! it works for me and I like it!! Fake Love is a great song with a lot of depth, but it turns out not knowing the band very well made me miss on some keep points in the video. Luckily the Explanation video by XCeleste cleared up a lot of that for me!

I’m literally sitting here watching your video and yelling at the tv “it’s just fiction, that’s not their real story!!!” Sorry you had to go through that thinking the worst. It’s the BTS Universe (BU) storyline created by the company. I haven’t gotten into the BU since I enjoy their music and other content without it. Really?!!!? Wow that’s crazy…. All the crazy intricate details and all the time and attention they put into their words to translate them into videos are so connected to their storyline all through the years they constantly use details to continue that even outside of the storyline stuff which just are so cool to see all that effort that goes in. The storyline and the mental health and taboo topics that they risked it all by doing … is what sets them apart from other awesome artists with good music , visuals and live performances…. So that’s def an interesting perspective to take … but I also hate when too many people blow up the storyline so when people watch any of those videos they miss out about all the music and videos bc they’re too worried about finding “clues” when it’s not like bts tries to trick us… they just use long game story telling to reveal stories over time and we know when they want us to… but then it’s fun to go back and see the stuff you missed is all

The scenes with Jimin and the water, Jungkook and the falling floors, and Suga with the fire were all real, no CGI…and yes Suga’s fire scene was indeed dangerous so they had two separate shots of the same area so they could have the real fire effect. There is a “making of video” that explains this clearly and you’ll find that several of their MV’s have making of videos to see how they manage certain effects.

Let me just say even though this is from the BU, this song is a real song about how they felt about their position in the industry and how they had to present themselves vs being their authentic selves. They really started having a difficult time with identity. They have whole albums talking about it. They were going to disband they were having such a hard time

I’m in my 60’s….and I’ve listened to a lot of music in my lifetime. I believe BTS transcends any artist I’ve heard. Their humbleness, talent, genuine appreciation for fans (army) and message in their music envelopes what it means to be human. You should watch “On: Kinetic Manifesto” 💜💜💜

"I'm sorry for laughing." Don't worry, we were ALL laughing... Absent the storyline, I think your analysis of the song was pretty accurate. There are many people who insist that they NEVER talk about romantic love. (It's a weird thing with some fans not wanting to believe they ever have or ever will have a partner, a love interest.) However, the entire Love Yourself series tracks the arc of love. "Her" talks about the bliss of new love, "Tear" is about realizing that you have completely erased yourself to keep that love, and "Answer" is about realizing that you have to Love Yourself before you can truly love someone else, or truly be loved. Yes, it could be about other relationships, even their relationship with their fans, but it's illogical to assume they have never been in a relationship, ever.

With the whole "it's never about romantic love" thing, I think ARMYs are also so adamant about that because they want to dissuade people of the stereotypical notion that since BTS is a "boy band" all of their music is about girls and romance and doesn't have much depth, which is really common for first time reactors unfortunately. Sometimes people speak in absolutes when they shouldn't in order to get that point across stronger, that BTS covers a wide range of very important and deep topics, not just romantic love.

@@4sea_and_sky855 That is a good point. I just hate when people are so determined to believe that NOTHING is about romantic love. That's an unrealistic expectation for a group of young men (or women). And it's frustrating that people believe that a song about romantic love has no depth.

@@lizzysmom8899 Agreed! Just because songs are about romantic love doesn't mean they are shallow, but unfortunately a lot of people perceive them like that. I think it's partly because romantic love is such a common, overused subject in music that people get tired of it and go "oh look, it's another love song 🙄" It's sad to me that idols aren't able to date publicly without facing backlash from fans, and although I think the majority of ARMY would be supportive, there is a small percentage of crazy fans in our fandom too. I don't consider those people ARMY tho if they're not willing to put the boys' happiness first!

That's also a good point! If we assume that love has no depth, then why is it something we think about, talk about, strive for and regret? Love is perhaps one of the deepest emotions people feel. There is nothing inherently shallow about romantic love, but it's been so overdone and "popified" that we think an intelligent songwriter shouldn't speak on it, that it's not a serious enough topic. Should every song be about romantic love? Of course not, but love is too important to human beings' lives to never address it.

True, but RM did say "the love could be person to person or it could be between me and myself". So it's certainly up to interpretation. I personally view the song as being about cultivating a persona. The person you want to be, and want other people to see you as. Only to realize that the love that those people have for that persona is actually "fake love". In RM's case, I think this would be the public, and more specifically, Army. The line "I grew a flower that can't be bloomed in a dream that can't come true" to me, is the speaker realizing that they spent all of their time cultivating the persona instead of trying to love and accept themselves for who they are. So as a result, they never grew as a person. That's just my opinion though. The great thing about art is that everyone will have a different interpretation based on their own experiences and the fact that we can debate the meaning of BTS's songs shows how much depth there is!

I know other people have probably told you but the songs blood, sweat, tears and black swan are both astectically pleasing. I wholly recommend them. Blood, sweat and tears is based off of a concept from a book. Black swan is based on a quote from a famous dancer: a dancer dies twice, the first one is the most painful. It is a song that captures their feelings on if music no longer brings them joy.

LOL looks like you stumbled unwittingly into the Bangtan Universe (BU). It’s a fictional storyline that spans many years through many albums, MV’s, notes, highlight reels, web toon etc. it’s an absolutely genius story created by Big Hit! (Most videos related to the BU are marked “BU content”. ) And unfortunately after 5+ years we still don’t have a confirmation from Big Hit about what exactly is going on or when, if or how the storyline ends so alot of people have made theory videos, some are very good & go deep & others only hit the surface. It’s a rabbit hole that usually only people that are fully on board with BTS fall into. It may be too early for you as it still confounds some of us hardcore ARMY. 😀 But great reaction none the less! It was a bit funny & a little painful to watch you struggle with the explanation video but you maybe kind of understand a little of what we’ve endured all these years with this story. 🤣 BTS songs most often have deeper meanings but they also want us to interpret their music how we want as well so there are really no wrong answers. Not every MV will have an explanation video, those that do are very helpful with cultural references. The KZbin channel DKDKTV have some of the best. GidkidDAD has the best theory of the BU story that I’ve heard so far (and I think I’ve seen them all LOL). He really goes deep! It’s also well known by ARMY that BTS finds you when you need it most. I found BTS through this song when I was in a bad relationship. It was my interpretation of the song that allowed me to see that I was putting myself last because I didn’t value or love myself. It helped get me through it & down the rabbit hole I went, one of the best things that could have happened to me!

I wholly agree with you. I listened to their music before learning about who the group or even individual members were. The music is what captured my attention even though i dont speak korean or japanese and then the members captured my attention. Love your reactions and keep them coming. Just to give a heads up each member has individual songs that appear on the albums so dont get confused if you watch a video and it only features some or even one member.

The fire with Suga, the water with Jimin, and the falling pieces of floor as JK was running through the hallways, were all real and done without CGI. They said that the fire wasn't quite as close to Suga as the shot makes it appear, but it was real.

Omg. Your reaction was priceless. 🤣 The music video actually has a lot of symbolism and references aside from the storyline . For example, if you look at the sculpture in the background, as well as their hands in their choreography, they are referencing the three wise monkeys, “See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. 🙈 🙉 🙊 Also, on the wall, it’s written “Save Me” but if you turn it upside down, it says “I’m Fine”. They had an earlier song “Save Me” and a follow up song “I’m Fine”. One theory on the cellphone scene not linked to the storyline is how we create online personas that become our masks to the world and we are interacting with those who are as fake. The phone gives us a way to communicate from a distance yet can also make us more detached from creating a more personal connection. BTS’ founder actually majored in Aesthetics in one of the country’s top universities so maybe that played a part in how well put their videos are? 🤔

Yes the water and the fire was real and both memebers were fully there for those scenes. They were not CGI. It's impressive and scary. Also they have a BTS Universe, which the music videos as well as teasers/clips help stitch together. We should have warned you 😅. As for their RL stories, it's not this dramatic, but from debuting and reaching success was not an easy road.

I’m 69 and I love them, my 15 year old granddaughter introduced, me they are so humble and very talented. The song Epiphany by Jin talks about Loving yourself. Their music is deep and always has a meaning behind it. The more you listen to them I know you will understand them and grow to love their music 🎵

As others have told you, this video is part of the bangtan universe (a storyline that runs through several MVs), so all the extras-- like water, fire, phones, snickers, even the flower-- have nothing to do with the song, but are part of a fictional universe. One thing you may not know is that BTS has many albums that are released as a series. Fake Love is from the Love Yourself series which begins with Love Yourself - Her (about the thrill of newfound love), then Love Yourself - Tear (about the downside of love ) and culminates with Love Yourself - Answer (about self-acceptance). Fake Love is the title track of Love Yourself - Tear. The rest of the album (the B tracks) are just as good as the title track. In fact, many ARMY prefer the B tracks.

To most new comers this video makes no sense, of course with the visuals being a part of a larger story line it is hard for many people to understand it as a stand alone. I was very impressed with your eye for those details, especially when you mentioned J-hope being locked in a room of childhood memories that weren't good. That is very spot on for his character. And the snickers is a very in your face reference to a very subtle element in his story line. I think you would love exploring the Bangtan Universe if you ever decided to fall into it. If you are at all interested in understanding the world BTS has come from I recommend watching "Kpop History in 20min" by DKDKTV, and "You're wrong about Kpop" and "BTS vs. Kpop" by Bby gang mag.

The song is very relatable and applies to all kind of relationships. BTW, on top of the explained video, you might as well watch the choreography and the behind the scenes video (shooting sketches) in 1 go. As an art person you will be amazed on how they make their sets. They have one for this MV. There are live performances but not sure if they are safe to react to.

I had to subscribes, hahaha. What a great reaction! I actually decided to check out your Spring Day reaction before watching this one. Since you have a background on back stage, props and set-making, it would be interesting to see your reactions to the MV making. There are so many music and dance reactors, but I only 2 people who react to the MV making, and it's more on the actual camera work and not sets. It would be fun to have your perspective on that. Should you consider it, please know BTS often has more than 1 MV for the song. Especially for the BU songs, there's Korean and Japanese MV. Usually there are multiple videos too on their MV making. We will watch them! I promise :).

Thank you so much for this reaction! I've seen the shorter MV a handful of times and I had no idea there was an extended version. Now the live version with the masks makes more sense. Also, I appreciate your perspective on the visual aspects I've missed. I've watched some of the BU Universe explanation from XCeleste so I get some of the symbolism, but I got much more from your comments! Thanks again!! I can't wait till you get to the BTS storylines.. These are actually part of the storylines. Back then we have to wait everytime they drop a new video and sometimes when they drop a new MV for their new album the story is connected so it answers a lot of questions from the previews videos and give even more questions 😂😅. I think you will enjoy this ride with us. The story starts from Forever Young MV but as far as I'm concern you can start it with "I Need You 19+ MV" if other army have other suggestions i guess it would be better. But I started with this one. Because that was the recent album when I became a fan of BTS. Thank you for being so open minded. When I requested if you can react to Spring day I was embarrassed cause I know you only react to films and series, but you did, how amazing are you! ... In fake love everything what seems fake is actually real. Except for the fire it was enhanced later but he really had fire shooting at him while Suga was just sitting there. The studio flooded with the water with Jimin. You can see it in the behind the scene. The storyline is fictional though out the videos, not all came from great backgrounds but nothing like the storyline. It's just for the story.

This is part of the storyline but with all their songs it's written in a way were people can relate to it outside of the storyline. With every story you write Even in fiction there is a bit of truth. Yes they didn't experience what their characters went through but the feelings of despair , fakeness, pushing yourself for not the right people, loosing your childhood and going through hardships is all real. Often BTS songs are hidden behind multiple layers. For the video , contrast creates focus and can lead the story of the music video further. Nice reaction, this video has an intense feeling that not many approaches with an open mind. I encourage watching this video again outside the video. 💜

My pet theory is this song is really about BTS and their fans. That they change themselves for their fans and pretend to be something they're not for us so much so that they don't even know who they are anymore and so our love for them is actually Fake because we don't really know them.

Thanks for your reaction, and sorry you had to go through that! Those unfamiliar with K-Pop might not realise that there are storylines within their music videos etc. Not all have them, I think BTS pioneered this (Army will correct if I'm wrong). It might be wise to wait for Army to recommend explanation videos for their Korean songs otherwise you'll keep stumbling into the BU and things might not make sense. Not everything has an explanation video but necessary ones for the MV's are from DKDKTV (from a Korean perspective to get the history/Korean insights we would miss in the West) and Bookish Theories who usually does some pretty solid stuff. XCeleste I think focuses on the BU only but could be wrong there. There might be others but I generally stick with these. Enjoyed your analysis nevertheless, always great to see things from another perspective that I might otherwise miss. Looking forward to more! 👍

j/k. Now that they've made an announcement about the BU series coming out soon, I need to catch up on all the content. I've only really seen the MVs and seen short clips so I don't really know all the stories. I think your interpretation is pretty nailed: Fake Love could also be about the relationship between BTS and ARMYs.(yep, the water is real! You can see it in the making of the MV!). However, I think the XCeleste explanation video might have been confusing for you because she is explaining the BU "Bangtan Universe": a fictional universe where the BTS storyline was set (it doesn't exist anymore). You are a good guy :-) If it can be of any consolation, BTS actually had it really really rough in real life too XD Like, they seriously came from poverty and they were bullied relentlessly for years and were seriously ostracized from the industry, not only in the West but in the East too.

But you made someone laugh who's life is not easy right now, so thank you sincerely for that. And you were not completely wrong, many interesting persons really had hardships. Also BTS is so multifacettet and has so much content, I'm in my 4th year of being ARMY and I have by far not even seen half of the content that is there. You should also check out XCelest’s video explaining the BU, BTS Universe. She explains their fictional story in more detail. Each member of BTS is a character in that story. Their characters’ names are the members’ actual (stage)names. The story is told in their music videos, album notes, webtoon, and teaser videos, etc. Welcome to the rabbit hole!

Since you mentioned dirt... Look up "dirt spoon" and how Koreans use types of spoons to describe social class. Important because BTS sometimes reference "spoons", so it helps to know in advance.
