First off all what he did is illegal because he is violating the order of the Buddhist monks and second if this person chooses to be a scammer doing something illegal he should be ready to pay for it. As for the woman scamming people by harassing the scammer. Um she doesn't take money from unsuspecting people like he those. You may say hes not hurting anyone but still hes getting money in return for literally nothing. The guy is making money off a lie. It'd be better if he begged cause at least he was honest. And most of the people who give him money are usually highly naive like you who thinks that the scammer should have just been let off the hook or just want him out of their face quickly. A scammer is someone who makes money of deciet and what this woman did was no scam.

Can you hold that scammer in place without yelling long enough for the police to come pick him up? Report all you want but there are lots of people who do that type of scam and its not gonna be easy to pin point him if you don't do what she did. Get the name, ID, and tell him straight up what he was doing is wrong.

Sitting with a bowl with the intention of receiving help is “begging”. Saying they can walk around in their robes and receive help is basically supporting the idea. If they never have to actually ask then-and I acknowledge this analogy is rather crass-wearing monks robes in Buddhist communities is essentially holding a cardboard sign asking for money. I am not Buddhist, but the knowledge that they can’t “earn” a living is enough for me to take the initiative to offer food. I respect their devotion even if I don’t agree. It is, however, a religious form of begging.

23 year-old Buddhist here. Monks don't go around to ask for money, they only receive food donations with their alm bowls, which is also less common nowadays. Any 'Buddhist monk' who walks around asking for your money/ selling "talismen/ charms/ spells/ you name it" are either: (1) Some conman taking advantage of your compassion. Or (2) Not really a Buddhist monk but a something-else mink, maybe there's such a practice out there idk but it's definitely not Buddhist
