Expats from different countries and I don't blame them. If you can live in a place for half to a third of the cost where you can have almost all of what the western nation can provide, why not? But BGC is not all Philippines, well in fact BGC is not all of Taguig City or Metro Manila. We have serious third world problems, no doubt about it, but it's HOME.

@@walterdayrit675 Even in America there are lots of people who are homeless, beggars, and drug addicts lying on the sidewalks, that's the reality of Uncle Sam, is it normal to most Americans? My advice for you and your sweet senior husband is to get him Philhealth first thing in philipinese then to have 10,000 US dollars 💵 untouched for medical emergency, in Philippines the medical care system has skin tax in place, your husband most like will be overcharged for every thing , if you manage to fly your husband out of Philippines to either Guwam or Vietnam, you will save 80% of what would you pay in philipinese for health care plus he will be treated in far better facilities than the one in Philippines, the medicen in Philippines is Crazy expensive, bring at least 3 months supply, in Philippines they really humiliate those who can’t afford their medical bills such as tie them to the bed and confiscate their passports and seized their assets , I am talking from experience, take care and God bless .

"third world" has been a very misused term... It really just originated from the world war, and third world just means any country that's not the allies or the axis. Germany isn't even "first world" in that definition. "Developing country", as you say, is the correct economic descriptor. Poverty is in any country, at different levels and in different forms. So, honestly... Calling it in the classical "third world" which most people really mean is "under developed" like really really poor economically, is not even correct for the Philippines anymore.

BGC shouldn't be the Main basis of "being developed" as what described by foreigners. It's a small city in Manila, they don't showcase Filipino Culture ,restaurants and Cafe came from Western Influences, Italian Pasta ? Wolfgang Steak ? Ramen ? Where 's the filipino Spirit ?come on man . Business owned by Foreign Corporations most of them at least . . It Is is created for " Consumerism " and Foreign Infrastructures which mostly foreign expats can benefit but Locals Can't even afford to live there (too expensive). Giving job to manilenos yes of course but Don't Say it represent Philippines because it's NOT . Go to Province ,Cebu ,Davao, Siquijor ,Palawan,Ilocos,Mindanao ,Batangas etc. They represent Filipino Culture . Observe the Way of living of locals this is where you measure if its developing or struggling . Many parts of provinces has slow internet which is basic commodity of modern living nowadays . The philippines is NOT a poor country. What the PH has is a poverty problem. There is a very huge discrepancy between poor and rich. The rise of the middle class alleviates this but it won't be enough until the nation's growth will be inclusive. The problem is even if the the GDP is one of the fastest growing worldwide, the benefits are not felt by the people living at the bottom of society. So while the PH is not a poor country by any means, it certainly has a glaring "poverty" problem.

I think it doesn't really matter what other countries are calling our Philippines... Important thing is that we know that yes we are developing...middle class households are increasing, people are working hard to make their lives better coz we can't anymore depend on our government... No matter how much foreign people call us... We love our beloved country Philippines ❤

"Third World" is an outdated and offensive Cold War-era term. Currently accepted terms include "developing" and "lower-middle or low-income." The poorest and least industrialized nations are sometimes termed "frontier" or "least developed" countries.

My family migrated to the United States last year. When I tell people about it, the most common question I get is "Why didn't you go with them?". I always tell them that I find it hard to convince myself to move to the United States, when our american friends come to the Philippines and 9/10 of them, find it hard to leave and if possible would like to live and retire here. So again, why should I go to the United States, where I'd get discrimination?
@floof6896Ай бұрын
bs. it depends on what state you live in, there is almost no discrimination against filipinos in california. my aunt, uncle, paternal grandparents, cousins, other aunt, etc all live there in california as filipinos yet have never faced any real discrimination from the americans there.

Discrimination is everywhere in the world , sometimes it is used for division and propaganda . use Racism to make people turn on each other.

The major problem with the Philippines is that there is no Middle Class. You are either poor or rich. The inequality is quite obvious when going to an exclusive subdivisions for the rich to your typical barangay area.

Hey thanks for appreciating the good parts! Honestly we still have more to go, but we are also happy to see places here that are keeping up with developed countries. I live in the province, development here is slower than in the capital BUT newer infrastructure and constructions of business centers are unstoppable, faster than it was 20 years ago. I know many channels are dedicated to hate and slander of the Philippines, and most of them have just overrated portrayal of our negatives like "Philippines is like 100 years behind Thailand", "Philippines is probably the poorest ASEAN country if WW2 didn't happen", "Filipinas only want your money", "Philippines is for poor tourists", etc. Things that make us laugh cinsidering these people have no idea how it's like to live here. Not a paradise for now economically, but generally improving and has tons of natural wonders.

Terms like "third world" are so archaic. I just laugh at people who still say them. And while I nonetheless see where they're coming from, I also see that it's all born out of sheer ignorance. They only ever need to read up and educate themselves.
