thanks. I have a newer SM7b, my ears thought it was thinner and maybe fake. But your video clarified that its a real one. Very good details. Some actual measurements with calipers might help too, diameter of cable, rubber grommet on cable, small details measured on screws. Shure US is pretty global but seems the Fakes are flooding the market these days on many brands.

I bought a Shure SM7B off eBay used and I was comparing what you had with the pictures and I noticed on the fake one that you had. Had different screws or they looked a little bit off. But I compaired the real one and the one I bought. Luckily I got a real one, thanks for the video

Thank you for this video, i recently purchased one from amazon not realizing it was from a third party seller.. when i saw the tracking came from china i had a feeling. It arrived today and thanks to this video i was able to identify that mine was indeed a fake. Worst part is it doesnt even work so not like i could use it.. Again, thank you.

@@pointlessspam I did actually, it was a bit of a surprise because what ended up happening is I tried to contact the seller first and I got no reply so from there I went through the A-Z guarantee contacting Amazon and telling them what happened they said that they will try to contact the seller and the seller did not reply after two days and then Amazon ended up issuing the refund and they were going to go chase up for the money from the seller. They also let me keep the fake one so now I have two very real looking boxes

if the fake one is cheap i still buy it for the casing, put a sm58 in it. it is still cheaper and as good.

sm7b and sm57 capsules are the same its the lack of transformer and the housing that makes the difference in sound on the sm7b.

The problem is if shure was made by LAW to include the OEM price then this stuff would never happen as Shure would quickly find out they could not rip off people with a 500$ mic that costs under 80$ to make at OEM. If OEM price display was mandatory there would never be any fakes anywhere, the reason for "Fakes" is due to Shure using OEM parts and assembling their mics in China using off the shelf parts. These parts are available everywhere in China that's how they can make thousands of fakes per day. It is not a fake mic if they use the identical Mic head, you can change the shape of the mic and still use the SM7b Mic head that would still sound like the SM7b with slight differences due to the grill or foam design. Most people don't realize the Foam is indeed part of the sound character.

La pieza que tiene un poco de holgura, es a proposito, para que en un futuro no se pueda partir con facilidad, le da mas curva de torsion o elasticidad a esa pieza, por si le das un golpe al micro , asi absorbe algo del impacto, es creo un diseño pensado con mucho detalle. No esta defectuosa. Con el micro falso parece una voz mas aguda y tiene mas ganancia el micro, se escucha mas fuerte, tambien recoge mas los sonidos ambientales- Me gusta mas el micro verdadero la voz es mas bonita, pero solo se nota bien si usas unos auriculares

If you're talking about intentionally picking up a 'fake' one be aware that you get what you pay for - so expect to run into problems you can't go back to Shure about.

Honestly, if you did not say you were changing to the "Fake SM7B", I barely hear any difference in the sound quality. A little post-processing, makes it sound like the real one.

On the fake one, there's a noticeable resonant frequency in the lower frequencies that just doesn't sound good.

bought a fake one. its serial can actually be registered through the website but the price is half the price of a genuine. not all fakes are similar to that of is shown here because what i got is really well made fake such that there are no welds and windscreen is not easily detachable. but from what i've seen from other vloggers, the capsule is more prominent than the original which is more set back. I can't compare the sound since I too get a hissing sound from my original microphones using my mixer.

This form factor is tempting, but these counterfeits cost more than a genuine Shure MV7X broadcast mic. You can even buy new Shure's for under $50 now, all of which sound better, are built to last a lifetime, and don't forever disrupt the used market.

Got an ubdate. If buying SM7B IN Australia you'll have a holographic sticker on the box with a unique code. But I think the way Shure responded to me says it overall. "if you paid under 500 it's a fake. Yours looks like what you'd expect to pay (800). We went through some other checks and I was pleased to verify mines the real deal. I'd hate to spend 500 expecting the real thing so Id never risk it unless you're happy with the fake because it's looking likely that's what you'd get

One other thing to look at are the markings on Mic. The real one has markings around the entire diameter where the fake only has writings on the top

There are fake Shure Microphone everywhere. I have a Fake SM58 that I accidentally bought a long time ago thinking I got a sweet deal. The real SM58 is much better.
