Wow never seen the water test before but great to see maths in action 😂

Great video. The gravity test will work every time.

Well that was something new to me! I love the geek side of this stuff, very informative. Thanks BYB!

The hammer on your silver looks like a delving hammer I use one in the quarrying of yorkshire stone is that what you use while working silver. Love the channel very educational 👍

I'd think heavy silver plated but I'll watch to see the test.

Probably not advice you want/need but sand paper or maybe a Dremel with a sanding drum then polish it up after then you get a bronze bangle, hell throw a few magnets in there while you're at it for the placebo effect to help with arthritis/joint pain yes I know they're usually made of copper but they're still a placebo and they're only as effective as your belief in them

The sigma is a great piece of kit but isnt infalable and shouldn't be used in isolation as the literature from the company points out its only testing the area directly above the sensor and it can only penetrate a depth of 0.18mm ( small wand) to 1.5mm ( bullion wand) depending on sensor used. Very think plating can trick it so several testing methods should be used. I tend to use calipers (measurements ) scales and specific gravity for coins that's probably all that's needed as the specifications are well documented and tolerances are small .

999 isn't a valid silver mark so the bangle isn't claiming to be silver, it could just as well be read as 666. The seller is claiming it as silver. Also if it was silver and made abroad it would probably be 800 silver rather than 900. 900 is a coin grade. In any case silver is so cheap that even a steel bangle would retail for the same price :)

Only 1 fake in my years of collecting. 1947 Mexican 5 peso. Bought a lot of 10 off E-bay. I was debating whether to place a bid because 1 of the coins didn't look right. Sure enough it was fake. Failed the magnet test. The seller refunded me.

Why does the meter measure ANY mass increase when the object is immersed in water BUT its weight is held by a string?

Would you consider the acid test?. I once tested an "silver" braclet with a drop of the acid . It was very interesting initially it turned to the perfect red colour, the silver was about a thou thick like the one you tested it was brass or bronze. The test can be some where rather un noticeable. I guess I am telling granny how to suck eggs.😂

Where did you find that weight chart of other types of metal at?
@BackyardBullion11 ай бұрын
I just googles specific gravity of metals and it was the first result.
