Fake vs REAL AKRAPOVIC ($20 vs $750.00) | PURE SUPERMOTO BRAAAP | BLDH

KTM 450 EXC Akrapovic Supermoto test. BLDH and Girlfriend tries out a fake scooter exhaust and a real akrapovic exhaust slip on. The bike is a 450 exc from 2008 with some supermoto wheels. The reason why we didnt test out with out the dB-killer with the fake is because NO ONE rides like that. it is too loud (basically no silencer) and being that loud means you lose tons of power in the making. I test rode both exhausts and I could really feel a difference in power delivery and throttle response.

Not a fair exhaust test. Baffle was still in the Fake Akra which you did the sound check with it in. Take it out then redo the sound check. But even with the fake akra baffle in it was as loud as the real akra with it out

A fake one its too direct i put one on my Yamaha FZ07 without DBKiller and it was loud as hell It took me 2 days to put the db killer and the sound changes completely still loud but much less and less cracking and backfiring with out db killer and muffler the fake ones are way to straight and noisy.

Had this replicas in two different quads, believe me above 5000 rpm you loose horspower against the stock ones (without baffle ofc), it's even noticeable if you're stopped and hit the gas, you get the limiter slower.

Bikes from the factory typically run lean and putting a free flowing exhaust or air filter never helps the situation (unless you have the money to tune correctly).The real akra is longer and therefore maintains more back pressure than the fakeovic without the db killer. Leave the db killer in the fakeovic and After a week/500 miles the glass pack will break in giving you a little more sound and pop. I put one on my ninja 300, the reason ( light weight ) the fear ( destroying my motor from running lean / getting hot). The fakeovic is just a slip on and with the db killer in it to help maintain back pressure ,it still Sounds quite decent. So far hasn't ran hot and performance feels same. Not a bad purchase. Side note. I think I'm gonna buy a re-packing kit from fmf or another reputable company and replace the China glass pack.

The only reason the fake one sounds farty is because of the db killer, remove it and they should sound very similar. In general muffler change is not going to make a big difference in sound, the only thing that changes sound drastically is de-catting and header changes.

You need that in there for back pressure. That's why it's popping under engine breaking. If you want it to work without the baffle then you need different cam profiles because at the moment the valve overlap is all fucked up.

Haha, wild story, I had a KTM 250exc-f and had a stock exhaust on it, my dad had a titanium akra on his bike and decided to put in on mine (to see if i could tell a difference in speed). We went down to the moto track and 3rd lap I hit a table top incorrectly bailed and totalled the whole bike ;) the akra was fully crushed and was as flat as a pancake due to the impact. So was the forks and the subframe :P - Good times
