In regards to faker's "mindset" influencing his injury, Mikyx once spoke in a G2 doc that he had similar issues at worlds or msi back in 2019. I messaged him on twitter about it & he claimed a book called "pain free for life" by Scott Brady MD & William Proctor helped him a lot & that just reading it made a huge difference lol. Not claiming it can replace other forms of medical intervention but could be worth reading for anybody desperate & literate dealing with wrist or other physical injuries.

Faker’s injury is not carpal tunnel syndrome, it’s cubital tunnel syndrome iirc. Faker himself said his injury was not concentrated in the wrist but in the elbow (you can check it on Knowing Bros when he was asked by the ex-basketball pro)… If you see how he holds (held?) his mouse with his wrist rubbing against the table edge and his elbow a lot lower than the table, it’s not surprising that it happened. I remember there was already a video a few years back analyzing his walking and playing posture and the PT(?) that made the vid already mentioned that while his sitting posture was great his hand-arm use was not.

Most gamer type injuries involving the tendon (arthritis) don't just "heal" and are fine, it's about managing it so it doesn't get inflamed, which is almost impossible in tournament settings. So yeah I dunno what Faker can really do about it other then sub out periodically or just take lots of painkillers and completely fuck up his hand.

It's just a new account, and he's played league before. He just isn't up to date with the items and champs. As he pointed out, lower ranks have a lot of smurfs because riot made it so new accounts are easier and more enjoyable to grind with than old accounts. Maybe this was a ploy to put new players in higher rank, drop them, and have them grind back up. But it backfired. Iron 4 accounts are 1v9, 2 pentakills each, and dropping 30 bombs just to lose to another Iron 4 account with 3 pentakills and 35 bomb. They look like Michael Jordan on the rift with ACTUAL iron players trying to win. I don't doubt most of silver, gold, and plat (still active) are smurfs. Diamond and master too, but the number of people that can smurf Diamond+ are so few. Another good job by riot so they can have their player base lose motivation to climb but still play on their addiction by allowing them to play against worse players PROBABLY ONLY to inflate their numbers to investors. No established tech companies care about new customers. They just need to keep the whales and addicts to keep their products alive.

I think the game should encourage you to play Coop vs AI if you’re on a brand new account. Not force you to, of course, but people just don’t play that mode at all despite it being fairly decent at helping you try out new settings and champions with no league experience at all.

Even normals aren't safe because they contribute to your MMR rating in ranked. So if you're playing with your friend who is new, and he wins a bunch because you get into easier lobbies, he queues up for ranked and it's a murder scene. It's completely nonsensical. I actually have the reverse. I peaked at Plat 2 like eight seasons ago and the game is still weighting me at around that rank because my normal winrate is high and I'm assuming I have decent MMR. My lobbies are routinely filled with high emerald/diamond/master, even GRANDMASTER players sometimes.

I have the same type of problem in my wrist and it can not be cured without surgical intervention. You can only cope with it and it will flare up from time to time, much more if you use your wrist intensely. After the lower bracket it will be even worst for faker he will have to rest.

I Play on NA from india because league was my first online game didn't even know what servers were, I was 16 years old back then slayer jinx was on the login screen. I mostly played at around 290-311 ping dont play ranked much back in s9 i somehow started getting better ping of 250-60 I started playing ranked and climbed to plat in 2 weeks.

The take isnt particularly based, it's just a general truth about games with a decade old community, its the same in wow, in smite, in rocket league, in cod, in CS, in pubg etc..the experience as a noob is just bad if you play against other humans, you need to play bots and normals for tens of hours first if you want to have a chance at competing, spamming ranked is far from the best way to get better, that's just how it is.

I agree with your take but Ima just say CS is an odd man out in the list. I feel like the barrier to entry there is extremely low because it doesn't have champions/abilities to learn - you can just spam one map at a time and you won't be a 'total beginner' for long. If only it wasn't so full of cheaters, I feel like it could be a great game for streamers to try out (i know forsen and probably soda have played it already)

@@tristandash9798I started playing a bit under a year after Arcane started airing. It’s a hard game to learn for sure, and definitely the hardest game I’ve picked up. But it’s just not as bad to learn as people say it is. Streamers have a harder time with it because (as Soda implied), they get flames in chat for every mistake they make. New players can just watch any beginner’s guide for the current season and get the gist of the entire game, though. 30 minutes tells you what every role is, what type of champs are common in the role, what the jungle is, what the objectives are, etc. New players over exaggerate the learning curve because they think knowledge like the 2nd top tower gold is something people actually need to know. Most info in league is extraneous. Learn what your champ does, learn what objectives your team is playing for and why, and then play the game. It’s seriously not that bad to pick up for anyone who doesn’t get a mental collapse from making a single mistake. And for the love of god, just turn chat off if you’re sub 50 hours and learning. Play some Coop vs AI to learn the mechanics and abilities of champs you’re playing. I did neither of those things and was always having fun despite losing a good bit. If you do those it’s probably infinitely easier.
