My ex partner had DID. They switched very rarely, but when they did, they sat dissociating in the same place for hours and when they were back, they started panicking and acting frantically because they couldn't remember what was going on before. You had to approach them very carefully. Ain't no way all these kids suddenly have DID. Nobody can tell me that

There’s this one woman who has DID and she took up painting as a hobby. The way the painting styles differ between her alters is really fascinating because they’re so vastly different from each other. One alter has a noticeably aggressive style that centers all of her paintings around her trauma (or at least one of them) and sheesh, it was def emotional. I don’t understand why there’s people who want to fake it, like, this woman couldn’t recognize her own daughter unless her alter who was present during/after the pregnancy was fronting. That’s sad as shit

Having DID can’t be quirky… The thought of that disorder scares me. Imagine having to share your body with other people and losing control over your body and your memory. Not to mention the child trauma… These kids clearly haven’t thought about how terrible this disorder would actually be to have. Instead they’re like “I have alter egos so I must have DID!!” Or “I’m gonna fake this for tik tok sympathy!!”

As an actual system, it's not fun at all. The migraines, the memory loss, at one point I was at home first thing and then out of nowhere outside the library door. Sometimes you don't even know if it's you in your body or you feel like you're literally watching your own life

The reason why they change the name from multiple personality disorder to disassociated identity disorder is because it in fact isn’t multiple people in the same head, it’s just as a result of child to trauma, the psyche didn’t know what to do to properly cope with it, so what ends up doing is splitting off its memories, therefore, the brain actually develops into several different identities. It’s all the same person but all separate aspects of their personality are separated and it’s unlikely they will ever know what it’s like to be one unified person with a complex personality. The common treatment these days for it is to start off with teaching the person how to find other coping mechanisms so their brain can stop dividing itself whenever it comes across a very stressful situation, I remember one time hearing about a woman who had DID and she ended up having over 1000 alters because she already had DID but she was in an abusive relationship which caused each and every is stressful interaction to causer to have 1000 alters. It’s because it started as a coping mechanism, and the brain learns that’s the only safe coping mechanisms of speak, and current therapy for it is to first learn a better and healthier coping mechanism to deal with trauma and stress, so they can stop splitting up their consciousness. I’m not completely clear what they do after that but yeah there’s a reason why they don’t call multiple personality disorder anymore

@@otakumangastudios3617 This is more of a philosophical than scientific question I think, but how do we know it's one person split into several parts and not multiple people in the same head?
@otakumangastudios3617
@otakumangastudios3617 2 жыл бұрын
@@MB-lz5eb because, it’s not possible for more than one person to be inside of one head, at least as far as we know. Also, I believe they’ve actually done scientific studies on this, which is the whole entire reason why they changed the name from multiple personality disorder to disassociative identity disorder, was because they eventually realized that, it is not in fact multiple people inhabit in one body, but rather, some extremely severe trauma from the past and when I say severe it’s like the most dramatic bull crappy stuff you can imagine to happen to a poor child, that the trauma is so severe, that the brain at such a young age struggles to handle it, so how it does is basically dividing its identity into segments. There was apparently a case where there was a woman who had hers completely untreated, and she was in a really bad relationship with a guy, so every single time there would be abuse between them, her brain would cope with it in the only way it knew, to divide its identities. Brain scans have shown that the brain actually we will divide into multiple segments that normally wouldn’t have without this trauma. I suppose kind of sort of like making separate neural networks, which is why they appear to be multiple people. The truth is though, it was a maladaptive coping mechanism developed in early childhood due to some very very very very very severely traumatic events that happened. Back to this woman, she eventually had about 1000 altars when she finally got out of her situation, and I remember hearing the story from an interview with someone with DID. She said that how therapists commonly help people with this issue, is by first helping them find a different coping mechanism than continuously dividing their identities even further, as it’s not truly functional. I may have saved them at that time, but in the long haul it’s unhealthy. After that, they tend to dig even deeper into all the multi levels of trauma, since there’s going to be so many other mental issues they’re going to have to work through once they start healing. Although first, they need to stop themselves from dividing their identities, and then once they do that efficiently, the therapist is supposed to help them find more information about their trauma within and cope better and once they find that trauma that they can release it and probably deal with it and eventually, this can cause identities to fuse which is a sign of healing. This actually happens, where two identities will fused into one, and I’ve heard this is a sign of improvement and healing. The hope is that eventually, all of them will fused into one personality and won’t divide ever again. After that, any other sort of mental issues will be dealt with accordingly, and I don’t even have half of the trauma that would be required for such a condition but I can assure you as someone who has even such a small amount, I’ve had to deal with over 10 years of working some trauma and still pretty screwed up myself, so I can only imagine how much fucked up stuff they have to work with themselves about even after working through the DID. My heart truly reaches out to them and I hope each and everyone can find their true identity and merge all of them to become one beautiful complex human that they were always meant to be

I do make other noises tough, whcih is annoying and I can suppress it but it's like trying to not laugh when you're being tickled (for me at least), you have to take the deepest breath and zone out mentally from what your body is CRAVING for you to do

I watched this Danish comedy special made to raise awareness of the reality of tourettes. One of the people he got on there would regularly go to bed with a sore throat from constantly grunting, as well as a pain in the neck from trying to hold it back. It's not a cute fun little game, it's a debilitating illness that true sufferers can't just put away when nobody's watching.

As someone with ADHD, we do have Hyperfixations. It's where we focus so heavily on one thing we forget even basic tasks like sleep. We live and breath it until it no longer interests us. I personally don't have alot of Hyperfixations, but some may have tons. The way some people portray ADHD is RIDICULOUS. Some traits EVERYONE can do. It's a bitch to live with bc of people like them stigmatizing it constantly.

I’m gonna say this here so that I don’t have to say it again, idgaf if I get cancelled for it: As a person diagnosed with Tourette’s, let me tell you that REAL people with REAL Tourette’s don’t willingly film their tics. They don’t enjoy their tics and instead of taking pride in them, they try to hide them so people don’t make fun of them. Every goddamn time I go out in public, I have to try to hide my tics so that people don’t get the wrong impression of me or film me for humiliation purposes. Some days it’s manageable, sometimes it’s exhausting, tics can vary depending on how you’re feeling and what environment you’re in. Tics shouldn’t be something to be ashamed of but they also shouldn’t be used as a personality trait. These people try to make it their whole personality meanwhile the people who really suffer from it are trying to prove to others that they are way more than just someone with a neurological disorder. So yes, it is safe to assume that tiktokers who film their “Tourette’s” are faking it. Rant over.

I just wanna say that hyperfixation/special interests ARE a real thing. They're specific to autism and ADHD. They're more than just something you enjoy, and often turn into full on obsessions that last months or years until you move onto the next. Nothing interests you when it does not involve that thing, you can't think about anything else, etc. It can be a genuine problem, like how executive dysfunction is more than being lazy, but of fucking course TikTok kids are gonna make it into some quirky thing ugh.

I'm diagnosed with autism and honestly so glad you made this video. Telling people feels like a secret I shouldn't share because of the stigma around it, not because of the reasons you'd think of like bullying or judgement, but because I think everyone will think I'm lying. It's to the point where I literally show them the 20 page diagnosis document in case they think I'm faking it for attention and it's so annoying. It's messed up my school life badly, in the past friendships and relationships, so many people think I'm strange and eccentric because I have passionate interests and weird social skills and it baffles me why people would literally want and pretend to have it. Introversion does not equal autism and I'm so sick of people having one or two symptoms and diagnosing themselves with it, no professionals involved. They really don't get how harmful it is to neurodivergent people because it makes them feel really insecure in their own condition. My ability to feel comfortable sharing this with people I'm close to shouldn't be altered by people who don't even suffer with it. Drives me nuts.

He has a lot of stuff on the walls too, and squishmellos are also overly expensive. if he was working on getting his own money, then maybe he wouldn't be filming it in his own room or filming it at all. in the more likely case, he lives with his parents, still being sixteen or so, and all those clothes and things were bought by them; them being praise and reward.

The more common presentation is having to repeat a behavior until it feels like you got it right. Fakers seem pleased when they get it right, whereas someone who has OCD is frustrated it took them so long. I have to avoid bananas because I'm never sure I said the repeating syllable the right number of times. I have mild schizophrenia (diagnosed). We stop the meds because the meds have so many side effects, make us feel numb and tired among other things. I can’t blame anyone for stopping the meds after experiencing them. I’m off meds now. I’m glad you’re a supportive sibling to your brother. ❤ I hope he becomes stable and feels better for the long term. As far as that girl, maybe she has schizophrenia maybe she is lying. Or maybe she has another psychotic disorder. Voices aren’t always negative. Sometimes they do say nice things. Mine aren’t nice or mean, they are random.

It almost feels like he was too embarrassed and ashamed

I’m a childhood sexual assault survivor. I was molested/raped from the age of four to ten. I have ptsd & dissociative disorder(but not did) it is really frustrating and quite honestly it pisses me off to see these people mocking something that I’ve spent years in therapy for. Dissociative disorder isn’t a happy fun time. Imagine just shutting down any time you encounter certain stressful events in your life to the point where you’re catatonic. Dissociating was the ONLY coping skill I had to be able to survive what I experienced. I’m glad these people haven’t ever went thru insane amounts of trauma to the point they’re able to mock ptsd/did but dissociative disorder doesn’t make you cute or special. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk

As a person with ADHD, it seriously got me in a severely low point in life where I simply was too afraid to ask for help and I just ended up letting things roll down the hill. It happened because once I was formally diagnosed, there was a period where I wasn't administered any stimulation medicine, and knowing that I have ADHD just gave my mind an excuse to not do work. The guilt I get from unfinished work and constantly getting great ideas that end up being another writing on my notebook is immesurable. The fact that nowadays people seem to use it more commonly as an excuse infuriates me. There are many people who truly have ADHD who need a serious boost in motivation, motivation which they wouldn't have to make a fucking tiktok about it. Our generation, ladies and gentlemen.

I 100% agree I have really bad ADHD and no one around me takes it seriously. Had a coworker tell me “everyone has ADHD” not to my or others extent though. People think it’s “trendy” or use it as an excuse and make it so much harder for others to voice when they are actually needing help. I know refuse to talk about it with most people , because when I do I get the look. “Like oh here come all your excuses for why you can’t so this or that” and it’s so heartbreaking . I can’t be myself around anyone and it’s taking a toll on me mentally and physically. It’s getting really hard to live in this world with my ADHD.

If this is our society now, I weep for the future. I'm 42 years old and I was diagnosed with PTSD in 2007. The fact that someone would fake the disorder for clout on social media is disgusting. While PTSD is not limited to trauma brought on by experiences in combat, you're not going to be triggered by a damn car muffler if your PTSD was brought on by a car wreck or what have you. My own PTSD was brought on by an abusive ex who hit me in the back of the head with a heavy object. (just one incident of abuse by them) Therefore, I tend to tense up and watch a person if they get behind me. What's next are people going to claim situations of rape on TikTok for clout? I'm sure that would anger actual victims of that kind of trauma. We live in a twisted world.

I have diagnosed PTSD from 1st May of this year and long-term PTSD due to abuse in my childhood by my parents (yelling, they are loud beings, etc.) and I do in fact have bodily reactions/ptsd attacks. I have legit trauma response when I hear sirens by emergency vehicles (the traumatic event of this year included police, fireworkers and medics to come) and me and my therapist already dove into why the sirens trigger me. I tense up, dissociate and have a visual flashback of the event, tears immediately enter my eyes and I breathe heavily - just like in that night. Genereally with loud noises (even if I expect a loud noise, e.g. last time I watched a coworker after a party plop balloons) or fast unexpected movements of arms/hands make me flinch and tense up - I guess that's because of the untreated PTSD that my parents caused.

As someone on the spectrum as well i understand how you feel. I also do have a short temper and it sucks because not only do i hurt people when i lash out, i hurt my cats as well. And then afterwards i cry about it once im out of that anger zone because i hurt the things i love the most :,) Autism does suck to live with but sometimes i do try to see the good in it because ive noticed myself paying attention to smaller things that nobody else does and i focus on things that nobody focuses on either and im very curious about a lot of things, but then unfortunately theres another part of me where im so restrictive and i dont wanna try new things because i already think im gonna hate them. (which most of the time i do when i actually try them, hence why i hate trying new things because everything has to be the same.) I wanna try new things but i hate putting in the effort to because i procrastinate a lot because either i know im gonna hate it or i just straight up dont feel like doing it. Aside from that, it’s definitely not easy to live with under lots of circumstances but under others it can impact your life in a good way. (idk how to really put it.) I had a friend who has autism and he would always call himself stupid because of it and he was actually SUPER smart. He would tell me things i didnt even know about every day things and i thought it was interesting. He was and still is a very unique, smart, and creative dude and it sucks that i know he thinks he isnt and its hard to convince him otherwise but i know i cant convince him and i have to deal with that but obviously you cant change peoples minds about things about themselves and thats okay because either they will come around eventually or they never will and thats just how people work.

I had a friend with DID once, and _boy,_ let me tell you, as fascinating as it was to speak with her and her alters at times, it could also be _incredibly_ terrifying, as there were at least two alters of hers who were dangerous to herself, and incredibly unpredictable. They had scared me and another mutual friend of ours on multiple occasions, and I couldn't imagine what it was like to actually _be_ her. She'd went through some horrific trauma as a child that when she'd told me, I wasn't sure how to even handle it. She'd also needed surgery for something, but she didn't want to go through with it, because disassociating was a genuinely terrifying experience for her, and the thought of being made unconscious even for a good purpose was just too awful to even consider for her. She _hated_ the type of people who would fake such a thing for clout, and she hated how they made it so much harder for people to believe her and her plight. We were very close friends for a time, but sadly, things just didn't work out... I still wish her the best, though, and I do hope that she can one day get the proper help she needs. 🙏

And even now when all my problems are being properly catalogued and pointed out to me. I still feel like it's not really real, like they diagnosed me wrongly. Even though really looking at all they pointed out, it isn't. It's actually pretty hurtful sometimes to see this and think you're faking it despite people listing out all the problems you have. Like I can't live entirely independent, I am on a waiting list to get at home guidance because of the problems I got. And then you look at people faking it and you go. Maybe I don't have it. I saw a tiktok where a person was arguing with their psych because their psychologist said they didn’t have DID. The symptoms the doctor listed actually resembled mirroring and lack of identity, something found in cluster b personality disorders but the person was so mad about that (irrational anger is also something found in cluster b) and they was just mad they didn’t receive the diagnosis they wanted, but instead a more common one. They could still pursue a diagnosis and treatment but it was wolf that because it wasn’t the disorder they WANTED that they were so irrationally mad. Edit: I was able to find the video, the psych literally tells her she had BPD, and she gets so passive aggressive and insists she’s a part of a system. I suspect what was actually happening (as someone with diagnosed bpd) was she was mirroring and her lack of identity probably made her confused into thinking she has more than one person inside her, especially if she has deluded herself into thinking that.

@@pr1nc3ss96 anything that actually disrupts your day-to-day functioning is likely a symptom of some mental or neurological disorder. Especially if it happens regularly, not just a bad breakup or something that you'll only be experiencing during that period of your life. That's like saying, "it's not OCD, it's just an obsession with sorting that stops your ability to function until the task is completed", people without OCD don't experience that. And a google definition doesn't need to mention the disorder that symptom is commonly associated with.

Also, I have PTSD. Triggers are very random. It’s not usually vague text or dialogue about a similar but unconnected trauma (though it can be). It’s often a song you heard right before, or a make and model of car, or a sound like an ambulance (mostly ambulance sirens). With car triggers, it’s probably a serious accident. But yeah, you definitely don’t want to film it. I have some vehicle triggers and I do my best to hide them. I don’t visibly react in a noticeable way due to tons of therapy now, but I do not smile. It just looks like I’m distracted now. Sometimes I talk about it, depending on who’s around, or I just remind myself internally that yes, my experience sucked but this is not a red flag of danger. It takes a lot to get to that point.

@sparksparkleHello there random person on the Internet, I have ptsd from family trauma that made me miss out on A LOT of my childhood (even though I'm practically still a teen by law *17*) , I was forced to grow up due to my family not taking care of their kids and leaving me to do the parenting. I went to a therapist who was a nice lady around her 30s-40s who had a similar past, she told me about age regression and recommended me to it as a way to "Get back the childhood experience". Before I even knew what Age regression was, I already acted as a child randomly when I felt safe (going non-verbal, Using baby talk, ect. I also really love the dry cereal in the blue can 😭 I forgot the name) But after I found out and studied what It was and what caused it, it made a lot more sense. My autistic ass could break down the human brain to explain it but I doubt you even read this far 😹 but if you did, its alot of therapists and even doctors from time to time that recommends it! Edit: I found out its called "gerber puffs" really good cereal, you should try it ^^

I’ve also age regressed before and it was a positive experience and i don’t remember what triggered it but I gave a nickname to myself for when I age regress. As someone with anxiety,depression,and trauma AND has a friend with tics, i can confirm, there is nothing good about having depression or anxiety or trauma and it shouldn’t be glorified. Trauma isn’t just being effected by a single situation, it’s caused by a serious and very important event that damages you mentally or even physically, and you don’t just know when you’re going to get tics it’s not a plan, whenever me and my friend are talking she doesn’t just go: “oh wait, I’m gonna have tics in like 4 minutes”

I really hope it ends soon because it isn't something we can just brush of our shoulder anymore. Their are aspects in your life or within your person that are causing your depression and if you are honest with your self and you really spend time in your own head, as scary as it may be at times, you can find the answer or answers, you can Improve your life and your person, and your life can change for the better drastically. It is going to be a long and hard journey, but I beg of you, don't lose focus and don't ever give up on the truth. You are not cursed my friend. I had this girl in my old school, she faked so many disorders and DID happen to be on her list. She was fine for most of the year then all of a sudden she has DID plus the other ones “she has”, she made up this girl named ruby and she was basically the same as her normal self. All of the people that talked to her believed her, aside from me and a friend. The second she told people I already thought it was fake for several reasons. when you have DID and you switch you don’t remember what happens during that switch at all, you have no idea what you’ve said or done whatsoever. But she did so already that was a red flag, then she forgot about it for a bit and when someone asked her she immediately has a switch all of a sudden, strange. So I ended up telling my friend all that and she agreed that it seemed so fake, so we confronted her about it. She played it off and refused the claims for a while, but she ended up confessing that it was a lie. We asked her why she felt the need to fake a disorder that interferes with people’s life’s on a daily basis, she never gave us a direct answer but we talk about it and concluded that it was most likely for attention. It really bothers me that people feel the need to fake these life altering things for attention, rather then just be yourself and find people that take the same interests as you. Also I feel like some ppl do this to be oppressed and such, it’s really weird because why in the world would you want that? Anyhow I left the school so I have no idea if she’s still faking those other ones or not, but I just hope she realizes it’s not okay to do thing like this.

This is because we’re in high school and we can’t exactly tell people we’re a system because they’ll try to purposely trigger us. That could lead to splitting, new alters forming, etc… and we’re doing good in healing because we’re in a safe home now, so we don’t want to ruin our progress

I used to work for a psychiatrist and there was one patient (a teen girl) who was “diagnosed” with DID. I use quotes because healthcare in the US is weird and having a diagnosis often doesn’t mean actually having been tested for the disorder, it’s just a requirement to have a diagnostic code for billing insurance. So often the code used will be whatever the patient believes they have or one of the commonly used teen ones like adhd or bipolar, until the psychiatrist can learn what the actual diagnosis is, or more often, simply what the best treatment plan is (in short, confirming the diagnosis isn’t as high of a priority as treating the patient is). Anyway, this girl would pretend to have a child alter that would “front” whenever she wanted to manipulate her mom, and every time she did her mom would start coddling her and trying to appease her. The mom would come to some sessions and the psychiatrist I worked for explained to me that whenever this “child alter” came out during sessions, she (the psychiatrist) would continue talking to the girl as if everything was normal so as to not validate or give any attention to the behavior, and every single time the girl would quickly drop it and go back to acting like normal

@jasperjudd
@jasperjudd Жыл бұрын
@@kalimarley8637 it’s honestly such a massive problem in the healthcare system (especially psychiatry)! One of the worst (because of how common it was) I would see was how often teens were diagnosed as bi polar. I started working for that psychiatrist at 18. My moms a doctor and I had already worked as a medical assistant for a few months and knew a lot about psychiatry prior, but I learned a lot more during that job. Since I was still a teen though, I had multiple teen friends who were still minors who were diagnosed as bi polar. Not even one of them actually fit the diagnostic criteria. It was through this that I did some digging and also talked to the psychiatrist I worked for and learned about how often teens are diagnosed with bi polar simply because the parents aren’t sure how to handle their normal hormonal mood swings (especially when the parent isn’t great and not providing the necessary support for the kid to deal with emotions in a healthy way.) the parents expect the doctor/psychiatrist to fix the problem somehow, and the parents are the ones paying, so the doctors often diagnosed the teen with bi polar disorder simply so that they can prescribe the teen mood stabilizers. Instead of actually trying to help the teen learn healthy emotional regulation and giving them proper emotional support, they just throw drugs at the problem to numb the teens brain so that they’re easier for their parents to handle. It’s honestly sick. Some of these friends to this day still believe they are bi polar, and while I’ve mentioned this specific problem in the healthcare system to them in the past, I know it’s not my place to push any further, especially considering how some people end up intertwining their diagnoses with their identity. It’s incredibly hurtful though, because not only does it allow doctors to prescribe medications that the individual absolutely should not be on, but the diagnosis identity issue can become very extreme, especially when said individual doesn’t have a strong grasp on their own sense of self and needs external identities to cling on to. When it comes to DID, I think this is the main fundamental issue. It’s worse than the typical cases of people considering their disorders to be a large part of their identity, because with DID, usually their ENTIRE identity is DID. I think to an extent DID is real, but I don’t believe it’s an actual disorder. I believe it’s a symptom of serious psychological issues. In this online word having a unique and larger than life identity is very desirable. Teens are in that phase of their life where they’re searching for an identity, and that usually starts with building your identity based off your interests, hobbies, and social circles. When I was a teen I had characters from fiction that I loved and related too a lot. They sorta became part of my identity while I was developing into myself. Now days though, I’m seeing kids who, while going through this process of finding themselves, start to believe that these parts of themselves they are discovering are actually different people. Because they don’t have a fully developed identity, their identity becomes everything they connect with, but instead of them blending to become their true self, they’re kept separated. I’ve seen so many kids with self diagnosed DID saying that one of their other selves is a specific fictional character (who’s actually just a character the kid likes or relates to.) I honestly think it’s just a major tragedy of both the healthcare system failing the youth, and the internet encouraging more and more extreme ways to stand out and have an online identity that others like or at least find intresting enough to acknowledge. And in the process, these kids end up genuinely believing they have a disorder that never actually existed in the first place.

As someone who is neurodivergent and in their 20s now, I don’t particularly find it necessary to tell everyone I interact with about every issue I have. I understand wanting to raise awareness for something (like ASD or Tourette’s, as they are often misunderstood), but exploiting a disorder is not the way to do it. Being neurodivergent is a facet of who I am, but it’s not a personality trait. I hope these people realize the harm that they’re causing.

There was a kid with pretty bad tourettes that would cause him to fall to the ground and be paralyzed. There was a whole documentary following him and two other guys with tourettes. The other two decided to lie down next to him during these episodes. It was super sweet. As someone with some kind of anxiety disorder, that we don't need to get into details about, I can confirm that we don't do that weird crap of bouncing around the room because of music. Now, I may be overwhelmed by the thoughts racing though my head and an overwhelming physical feeling and try to distract myself by bouncing around, but that doesn't typically help much. Though exercise is supposed to help keep the anxiety under control. I just went through what felt like a straight week of feeling overly anxious, and it physically hurt. I feel my worse when I'm in that state, and it doesn't help that I can hardly eat then too. On top of that, I have dyslexia and when I get stressed I start to have difficulty speaking. I know that sounds unrelated, but it actually is a thing with dyslexics, something about how our brain processes things. So, some people with dyslexia will experience a speech impediment like thing where we struggle to get our words and thoughts out. I clearly have learned how to cope and get around this, but in stressful situations it comes back more. My point is that real anxiety disorder stuff sucks hard and it sometimes feels like my heart is going to explode. My most recent episode was set off by a freaking crush! I'm an adult! And my crush on a dude I just recently met is making me feel like I'm gonna die from a heart attack! Oh, and these people talking about having trauma and PTSD are really annoying. I technically have PTSD and I don't even like to say so because it's basically nothing compared to the people out there who literally can't live their lives because of actual trauma in their life. My mom's cousin has pretty bad PTSD from abusive parents, and she has been through a lot of therapy to cope with it all. She ran away as a young child because of the abuse and now has trouble in raising her own kid because of it all. My PTSD is from a freaking fire that took out my whole town, it's so stupid in comparison! I can't imagine the hell it is living with that kind of trauma. I get that some of these folks may have been abused or experienced something else traumatic, but so many of them are just full of it. They're pretending to be victims and "special" because they're just plain lonely. I genuinely hope they find Jesus, cause He is the only one who can truly help them.

20:35, I personally can understand how a loud car muffler can cause a PTSD attack, especially if it's revved up near the individual. It happens to me a lot whenever I'm walking around, although almost any loud sound is a personal trigger for my PTSD, along with others but that's besides the point. But it is sus that they're sitting there with a big toothy grin when they're supposed to be having an attack, and that of all things their first reaction in that attack is, "Oh, I'm gonna film a tiktok." Most peeps with PTSD doesn't even think about pulling out their phone to call someone for help, let alone film a tiktok with no signs of mental distress.

It's so fucked up like NOT having PTSD is such a privilege. TW:.discussion of infant neglect My trauma started with being born in a poor country and being at a neglectful orphanage when I was an infant. I haven't really lived before my trauma started. I was ledt in a crib, not fed enough and probably stopped crying because there were too many orphans for the staff. Is that something they reslly want to go through? Spending the first year and a half just in survival mode? Or other kinds of horrific abuse that messes you up as a child (or an adult.) Neglect is not well understood by professionals so trying to get help for it has been rough. I'm in a first world country and the help is there for ofher forms of trauma (although the quality and affordability of the help varies.) Definitely aggravates the feeling of being neglected bc the medical system kinda does neglect us. It was so validating reading the Harvard study that said all of this. I can't believe people would mock or make fun of PTSD sufferers. We've been through enough shit in life to even develop the disorder, it's messed up. And makes it.harder for real sufferers to get help and speak up. But I won't let them silence me. We need to speak up! I hope you are doing okay in life! PTSD is such an awful disorder and I feel for other sufferers. I hope we can find healing, self-compassjon, and a sense of safety. I'm not there yet, hoping I can feel better and heal myself. 😢

When people with DID actually have alters, they don't communicate with one another. It's one of the things in the movie Split that was meant to be part of Kevin's "Power". Think of the X-Man Legion. They don't have a 'shared head space ' where they hang out and wait their turn. They'd only tend to appear in times of trauma. I talked about this some with my doctor because I was reading about it. I don't have DID, but sometimes mental stress and distressing things might cause me to disassociate. Such as when we've talked sometimes about my boyfriend's brain cancer, and I'm forced to face his mortality. The fact that they think mental illness is 'fun' is upsetting. I was abused as a child. I have PTSD, even at age 42. If I hear my neighbors fighting, it tends to trigger me. I can't have someone I've loved for decades hold my hand too firmly, or grip my wrist. If anyone should have Alters, it's me... and I don't.

The most interesting thing is that all the alters were (mostly) made up by TikTok. In reality, they are different personalities which can get triggered by certain things. For example, a child with DID just got a toy taken from him by another kid. The kid might be scared of doing anything, but because of the DID, their brain can turn on a different, more aggressive/confident personality that can confront the offender. Also, I know quite a bit about this, but not at all an expert. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

okay but that's just you. No hate, you're just as valid as anybody else, but your decision not to share your disorders doesn't make anybody else who does choose to share it less valid, nor does it automatically prove that they don't have the disorders they claim. Not everybody reacts in the exact same way, and that goes for people with disorders too. This mentality doesn't actually help people with disorders and mental illness, it just encourages people (who might otherwise want to talk about it) to stay silent and keep it all inside in fear that people will think they're faking. I don't doubt that a lot of tik toks are faking, but acting like anybody who discusses their issues online is probably faking isn't actually the great defense of disorders and mental illness that people think it is. Believing people at their word about about their own experiences is less harmful to the community than some edgy 12 year old faking mental conditions. There's enough imposter syndrome in this community as it is, people do have these serious issues and they do beat themselves up about it, worrying that maybe they're just lazy and attention-seeking and making excuses-- and they shouldn't have to feel like that. The people who are actually making it much harder for people with disorders to be taken seriously and get help are the people who assume that just because some people are faking, that means everybody is faking and you shouldn't believe anybody. Sorry to go off on you, again I'm not mad at you and you're far from the only person talking like this in this comment section, I'm just tired of seeing it and it needed to be said.

Not interested in arguing, if you think four months is too long to respond to a comment then fine, but I don't really care all that much how long it's been and the same goes for a lot of people, you might as well just ignore responses if you're done thinking about a video and/or comment. The funniest thing about their multiple personalities disorder is how they actually know about every Single one, and each time they change, their alter ego basically is their same, their narrating their "alter ego". A true multiple personality, for example a 6 year old - doesn't fcking know anything about their Agenda, wouldn't know where it is and especially couldn't identify themselves as an alter ego of 9 whole personalities. This doesn't work like that. Also how do they know how many personalities they have ?? It could only be if someone would be watching them 24/7 over a looooong time to distinguish even the different ones.

I feel like people who don't know the difference between an alter ego and MPD need to know they don't act retarded on TikTok, An alter ego means an alternate self, which is believed to be distinct from a person's normal or true original personality. Finding one's alter ego will require finding one's other self, one with a different personality. The altered states of the ego may themselves be referred to as alterations. A distinct meaning of alter ego is found in the literary analysis used when referring to fictional literature and other narrative forms, describing a key character in a story who is perceived to be intentionally representative of the work's author (or creator), by oblique similarities, in terms of psychology, behavior, speech, or thoughts, often used to convey the author's thoughts. The term is also sometimes, but less frequently, used to designate a hypothetical "twin" or "best friend" to a character in a story. Similarly, the term alter ego may be applied to the role or persona taken on by an actor or by other types of performers. Examples of alter egos: Slim Shady (Eminem) Sasha Fierce (beyoncé) The Fresh Prince (Will Smith) [Source(s) Google, Wikipedia] MPD (or multiple personality disorder) is a disorder (duh) characterized by the presence of two or more distinct personality states. Dissociative identity disorder, previously called multiple personality disorder, is usually a reaction to trauma as a way to help a person avoid bad memories. [Source Google]

@@magikphoenix140 I'm the same way, just recently I had to bring up my disorder to my friends since I kept getting distracted during conversations and had to often ask them to repeat themselves to the point they were getting aggravated. It's easy to forget I have the disorder since it doesn't make me not function well. Using it as an excuse makes me feel weird since I feel like a normal person, meaning I should be able to listen normally, so I feel like I don't have an excuse.

When I got diagnosed in my mid 20s for ADHD, I pretty much ticked every box but hyperactivity. While I do tell my coworkers that I have ADHD to warn them and make sure that they know there will be issues but that I don't do it on purpose, I refuse to use it as an excuse. There are things that are hard to do for me, sometimes even impossible but that's my problem and I have to find a way out of or around it. Seeing people faking it makes me furious. Making light of any disorder by pretending to have it because it's so "quirky" is unacceptable. Apparently a lack of impulse control, insomnia, painful sensory overload, hyperfocus and fixation to the point of forgetting your basic needs, a complete lack of focus because you can't concentrate on ANYTHING for even 5 seconds is "quirky". Forget having short term memory right away (hah pun). You need something from me? Write it down. The list goes on, how someone would willingly suffer through that I'll never know.

False, it definitely can and has. It's just more rare. 12-18 diagnosed with DID are 8%

This is entirely false. DID can be diagnosed I believe starting at 10 years old. Due to it being caused from childhood trauma before the age of 10. I was diagnosed at 16. However, I'm a more severe case, I can't even drive, and I can't live alone either. My therapist suggested I could have it, I said no because I wasn't aware I had it (DID is a covert disorder and purposely tries to appear "normal" to avoid further traumas), I did some thinking and 6 months later I said she was right. Got diagnosed 6 months later and started becoming aware of my alters.

11:53 hi, autistic person here, i know you meant good but im gonna show something that explains what hyperfixation means: Hyperfixation happens when you become fully immersed in something that interests you. This intense focus on a single subject may cause you to spend more time and energy on it than you intend to. If left unchecked, hyperfixation can lead to negative consequences and disrupt your day-to-day functioning. so little summary : not a hobby but a specific subject that interests you A LOT , you learn stuff about it, and you cant control thinking about it or liking it so much, that it disturbs your day to day life in a negative way, and also usually is for a short amount of time (like a month, weeks, or days even.) This may be confusing but i just wanted to clear it up since all of the misinformation around ^^ love the video btw

As someone who has gotten motor tics a lot recently due to stress, that is hard to deal with on its own, I couldn’t imagine vocal tics as well 24/7. It’s so frustrating seeing these people think that it’s okay to fake it all and my heart goes out to people who ACTUALLY have Tourette’s.

11:48 hii!! i have diagnosed adhd (i was diagnosed when i was like 6) and i'd like to point out, hyperfixations are different from just enjoying things. its like focusing on one thing heavily or like dedicating yourself to something. it's hard to explain but i can get the google definition to try and help you understand better!! "Hyperfixation is the immense focus on one person, activity or object and excluding or ignoring everything else. Hyperfixation involves complete dedication and absorption on a single task, where anything beyond that task is 'tuned out." i hope this helped:D

See the thing is, more often than not, people who have these disorders aren’t comfortable showing it to other people. Not everyone tries to hide it, but a lot of them do.
