Question? From the time you caped it to the time you were completely done with it how long? And looks so life long brotha! Your a true master at your craft!
@ArtofTaxidermy2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Pete, as you know none of this kind of work will get done in one straight shot.. This was requested as an expedited service due to the timeline they had for the Park's new public building. so it had to get done asap. from the time I brought it to my shop till delivery was 3 months... but id say it was caping, fleshing was a straight 10 hrs, rock building was 3-4 days and I work 8-10 hr days. mounting was a week, then everything set aside for curing,, then finishing and airbrushing for a few hrs too.. and of course in between Im doing other jobs.. but thats how it went.

Are you using an air nail-gun around horn bases...and if so how long are nails? Never tried that as I figured they either wouldn't penetrate the skull or might crack it. Very nice sheep work!
@ArtofTaxidermy2 жыл бұрын
Yes I’m using the shortest brads I can find, like 5/8” I think. Some will go in some will bend and won’t go in as good. The exposed ones get cut short after all is dried.

What exactly is it you are using for the lips, nose and eyes? A type of clay? We have normal clay that does not harden over time and will stay soft. I'm not sure if that would be okay to use, or is there is something else/better?
@ArtofTaxidermy2 жыл бұрын
You need to use a water base clay do it hardens. That’s what I used. It can’t stay soft.
@phoenix.feather78802 жыл бұрын
Hmm, I don't know where I could get that here.. Time to do some researching! Thank you so much for the answer and the info :)

@@phoenix.feather7880 Water base clay is the same as Potters clay.. the most common kind of clay you can find.. start with pottery studios or art centers.
@phoenix.feather78802 жыл бұрын
I think I found something. It's water based and air-dry, I'd say that's what I'm looking for! It's just that I live in Norway and it's REALLY hard to get a lot of things, I don't know of any pottery studios or art centres anywhere up here as there likely aren't any 😅

@@ArtofTaxidermy I guess it really doesn't matter, but it it a good reference. I believe in doing more research, it is probably better than 215, B&C Record is 216 4/8 Thanks
