My dad graduated college in the mid 80s and he was way in to the new wave. He taught me a lot and I keep it going bringing more stuff to him when I discover it. I went to Spain in 1983 for a class trip and this song was played in every disco we went into over there. Brings back great memories every time I hear this version ( not the ATF one ). The DJ's used to say stuff in Spanish over the mic while this song was blaring. I was 16 and had a beer in my hand and it was legal. What a blast that trip was.

Not German, he was Austrian. You'll find noone was quite 20 ahead: 80's just boomed after beatles, rock and disco, and there hasn't really been these booms since then. Music for the last 30 years are just echoes.

@@ChrisGribben-rk6nw Falco composed the song with Robert Ponger in 1980 or 1981 but it was covered by After The Fire in 1982, probably to cater to English speaking audiences. But no, Falco wasn't the lead singer of After The Fire. I think that guy's name is Andy Piercy and I'm pretty sure he wrote the English lyrics to the song. I prefer the Austrian version since it has a lot more personality and Falco was a one of a kind artist.

I was born in 2003 in germany but when my grandfather showed me Falco when I was about 6 I instantly fell in love. I still listen to Falco to this day and I think he was one of the greatest artists to ever exist. I love you Falco R.I.P❤

That's one of the things I liked about videos when I was growing up in the 80's. MTV and music videos were about the music. You could dance in front of a green screen and save tons of $$$$ like Falco and your fans would still watch you and love your music.
