the falcon ram studio 30 (the one with the soft dome mid-range) is excellent. these people know what they're doing (on both the objective and subjective approach)

@@joentell The best thing about the Studio 30 is that it hides it's greatness under an unassuming look. That means EXCELLENT used prices for discerning people - unless they pull a Harbeth/ATC/PMC and their competence gets them a legion of dedicated fans. That's hard to do though - it requires a long brand history and unique tech developed in-house.

Well Done Joe ... It must be said; that Very Few Speakers meet; forget surpass the Accuracy & Purity of the "mid - range" of the BBC "LS 3/5 a". They are the Standard ! If Your Favorite Female Vocalist, Doesn't sound right ( "Mid - Range" ! ) on Your Speaker. It's Time to Change. Not enough Bass ? That's why SUBS were Invented !

The vocals are scary good to me. Like the speaker itself is actually singing to me. Hard to describe. The best way I can describe what I've heard from them is that vocals resonate out like a violin. So weird.

No ls3/5a is no where near competent enough for the highest quality near full range digital sound recordings. they are neither neutral either, as they have recessed middle response and exaggerated bass and treble compared with the midrange. They can no way deliver enough quality of the best quality digital format recordings ever, period. the best detailed and resolution digital recordings, are bettered by the capabilities of my special edition monitor audio gr20 gold reference loudspeakers, which are far more capable in every way than the LS5 /3a, as they have far more detail and resolution capabilities with better realism, than the LS5/3a could ever hope to literally achieve. The best detailed resolution capable sources and amplification, and recordings my special edition monitor audio gr20 gold reference loudspeakers can and do deliver. They do not suffer poor detail resolution quality equipment or compressed recordings gladly either, but on the other hand they just absolutely deliver with the best detailed and resolute quality equipment, and recordings.

I am familiar with many of the brands out of the UK. As i was once an avid reader of "Hi fi News and Record Review" . Anyway, I do know; Monitor Audio; besides for their own needs; provide Cabinets for many other Speaker Brands in Britain. So I'm sure; they're are capable of great things. So your saying, is the MA - gr20 s have surpassed & removed, the 'LS 3/5 a' s from their once Top Spot ... ok, that's fine with me. "I've got NO skin, in this game". "Nor Horse in this Race." But I also trust, You already know. That much of Audio is Subjective. Regardless, have fun.

Out of my price range personally. I like these LS3/5a's though! Those might be my endgame desktop monitor speakers. I love how they reproduce human voices. Please make this happen MoFi! 😂

Thanks but no thanks, I'll stick with my classic special edition monitor audio gr20 gold reference loudspeakers in metallic silver, with the better quality terminals and rounded corner edges, than my early pair of gr20's. With their light pistonic magnesium alloy ceramic coated and dimpled surface to reflect the build up standing waves affects on their sound quality performance, they are a more revealing and resolving loudspeaker design for digital formats, in my room size. They were aquired for the lowly sum of only £450 uk pounds, after living with my early square cornered original pair with slightly lower quality terminals in oak. At the exception of finding and liking a good enough pair of active crossover and amplified powered loudspeaker that can perform as well, and a sound i can live with as regards to capable sound quality, while also affordable, I will not change for some loudspeakers with lower quality performing drive units, as with the designs you are showing here, while also have to have more components in the crossovers, that indeed does take away vital detail and information of the best quality source components and amplifiers driving them. The loudspeakers you are showing here are not in the same league as regards been able to resolve detail and resolution capabilities of the monitor audio gr20 gold reference loudspeakers which in fact are a more capable with a better performance level that can be achieved with the best detailed and resolution capable ancillary components in their chain. Graphine drivers still bend, they are still not as stiff and pistonic as the dimpled ceramic coated magnesium alloy drivers in the monitor audio gr20 gold reference, which achieve excellent results as reguards the best ability source components and amplification quality in its chain.
