I've ran into linkage issues myself having had 20+ Falcons , I've got 66 Mustang parts to make 72 Maverick parts fit on my 61 Falcon Tudor wagon with a 68 Mustang steering column to do away with the 3 on the tree column. By the way 72 Maverick is almost a straight bolt in .... Well , with the right Mustang parts anyway !

The Falcon was designed as an el-cheap-o economy car. Price wise it competed with cars like the VW Beetle. The Falcon chassis was the donor for the the Mustang, which was suppose to be a 'sporty' car. A lot of that spindly early Falcon stuff wasn't going to cut it in the Mustang, so starting in 63 the Falcon got all kinds of upgrades, that's why you see this 'stupid' stuff in the Falcon. I miss my 64, wish I still had it. Unfortunately if you find a Falcon these days that isn't half rotted away, the owner wants big money for it.

Does bellhousing dictate what clutch for you need? I’ve got a 63 fairlane with a 5 bolt 289 that I’m putting a 3 speed in. (Wish I would have just rebuilt the 6 bolt my dad had when he was in high school)

My upgrade 65 open track racing steering kit doesn't fit my 63 Falcon V8. Tie rod ends are to long. Drivers side screws up just but passenger side not even close with tie rods 50mm to long. I must be doing something wrong. Please help. Paul

I have a '65 four door 6cyl Auto trans car. If I wanted to replace the 200 with a 302 I have, do I need to replace all of the front end pieces? spindles and all?
@AutoRestoMod3 жыл бұрын
Yes. to make it really safe you do. We will be doing a video on the engine bay stuff that will be needed as well.

can you list the difference between the 6 cylinder and v8 steering components for the '63 falcon? tie rod thread size, drag link diameter, etc.?
@AutoRestoMod2 жыл бұрын
I have a video coming on that. As well as one explaining the difference between the V8 and 6 cylinder chassis.

I have a 65' V8 Ranchero with that God-forsaken power valve system with the valve ON the drag-link... not like the Mustang you could unscrew. Really need to rip it out and go non-PS.

That can be made nice though.

I just bought a 64 falcon and the steering goes crazy toe-in when the front end lifts or rises. Super sketchy. All the front end was new parts but I have no idea what it has on it. Any ideas?
@AutoRestoMod2 жыл бұрын
If the inner tie rod is longer than the outer tie rod, you have the updated 1965 Falcon steering system. It sounds like the car has the less desireable 1964 steering. First, check the strut rods. These are often overlooked in a front end rebuild. Replace the bushings with good rubber, don't use urethane. If it has Granada Discs, those spindles can cause issues (bump-steer like you are experiencing), some folks can feel the problem some can't. If the Granada brakes are used in conjunction with the early steering it exacerbates the problem.

If you're looking for a falcon front end that uses 94-04 mustang look at speed kinetics the make a k member that bolts in the car
@AutoRestoMod2 жыл бұрын
We like the RRS system. No welding required, it is all bolt in, uses components that are readily available in the US. www.rrs-usa.com

Roller bearing idler arm does not center?
@AutoRestoMod3 жыл бұрын
That has more to do with caster than the part. Three degrees of caster will get it to center.
