My fav trail in Moab. If you're headed East after Moab, I highly recommend Phil's World in Cortez, CO. It's an AWESOMELY FUN trail system. You can even stay at the nearby super van friendly Walmart, as long as you want, NO PROBLEMO. We did.

Feeling out the characteristics of such different riding terrain was one of the most fun parts- not sure if the unlimited line choice made it harder or easier but it definitely made it more fun! 🤘

Thank you, Phil. As a relatively new MTB rider, I appreciate content less technical to be inspired to tackle. I'm adding Falcon Flow to my list. I only saw a couple high consequence areas that might take me off the bike all the while with awesome desert scenery.
@Wizler712 жыл бұрын
Above Falcon Flow is Eagle Eye which is surprisingly fun. More downhill, overall flowy and not hard but still some chunk to make it interesting.
@californiapoontappa2 жыл бұрын
This looks pretty tech
@mrvwbug44232 жыл бұрын
Falcon Flow is flowy by Moab standards, which means it's fairly techy. As someone who has ridden Whole Enchilada myself, Falcon is MUCH easier, it's just a blue and well within the skills of an intermediate rider.

So fascinating to see what you can do with a bike! Especially seeing you go from the trek, to evil, and to now the GT! The content no matter the bike is always great!

This trail is awesome! So flowy with a bunch of natural features and still has good views. It is a blue but I could see how some could argue black. It doesn't have the same views as porcupine or the technical fun as the others but so flowy and great warm up 5.5 miles just a fun ride

I love Moab, but it really is hard to keep on the trail xD I think it was LPS that I lost it and ended up in the middle of a ground-cover cactus patch! But this is a great alternative to Porcupine Rim to end an Enchilada ride. Definitely gonna try it when I go back - because I WILL go back ;)

It sucks that you crashed and bent one of your crank arms, but mad respect for getting that bit of video on backwards-facing helmet cam. I find the frame where the handlebars are still straight, but the front wheel/fork are being wrenched sideways by the rock to be particularly fascinating. 😮 I've never thought about it this way until now, but cameras are great to have along for the ride purely from a data perspective. You can go back over the footage and figure out _exactly why_ you wiped out, more specifically than say "slippery rocks" or "landed wrong"...

Luckily these Sram GX cranks are cheap and widely available. I could have probably found a shop in town with a replacement if i really needed. But I agree with your point, recording video is the best way to learn and analyze things. Had it not been for the video, i wouldn't have realized that it was the shrub that took me out. I thought i bent the crank in the crash, but i didn't realize that it had clipped the shrub. Before watching the video, I just thought my front wheel got caught on a rock. When people are learning new skills, i tell everybody to film themselves because what you think you are doing, and what you are actually doing are often two different things. On a personal level, making these videos and talking to the camera a lot, it helped me realize that i didn't enunciate and often slurred my speech.

I'm definitely not from there and did have a hard time finding the line/dots. Looking for parallel deadfall or lined up rocks did help in some areas. I'm used to just getting lost in the prairie grass that's in the middle of the wooded and desert west. This is definitely a good warmup ride for the rest of Moab. Definitely felt like I went into the deep end going Half Enchilada to Capt Ahab

Falcon Flow is shuttleable. The non-shuttleable stuff isn't usually too bad such as Captain Ahab or Navajo Rocks, with the exception of Mag 7 if you do the whole thing, Gold Bar Rim is supposed to be hellish with one punchy double black tech climb after another.
