I have a pair of Merlins that just took over a nest in my front spruce tree. They are very aggressive fliers and very noisy. Amazing to watch.

Good helpful video. Merlins also have a distinct eyebrow which the other two lack.

great video. the one day i go for a walk in the woods without my bins and I see what I believe to be a merlin. it was sitting on top of a bare tree. took off with a very strong and direct flight.

I’ve just seen a lesser kestrel (Falco 😢) , do you have them where you are? I am on the south French coast where this small falcon is very scarce. Apart from your American Falcon we have all the other raptors you mention but with the Merlin only in Winter.

We don’t have lesser kestrels in North America. We do get the Eurasian/common kestrel as a very rare visitor (I haven’t see one before).

Would have been nice to put in the prairie falcon for us western folks. Other than that, was ok.

vs. Pigeons and Doves?
@LycoBirds2 жыл бұрын
I hope to make an advanced falcon ID video at some point. Pigeons and doves would be comparison species to include in that video. Thanks for the suggestion.

Kestrel ( Chicken Hawk!)

No not really. A. They are not a hawk and B. Baby chickens maybe but never full grown hens😊
