I really appreciate Falconer for releasing one last album for us fans as the curtain closes and they bow out. I am also thankful for Metal Blade Records for doing their part in promoting this album, and all of the "behind the scenes" stuff. I hope they all enjoy retirement from making music, and sail smoothly to wherever their destinations might be.

Andy LaRocque did an EXCELLENT mastering job with this album. Not the slightest hint of loudness war, full danymic range without any brickwalled waveforms. Can't even remember when I encountered such outstanding mastering of a metal album last time.

Would not call it "full dynamic range" but for sure, this is one of the better sounding metal albums released nowadays. Check out "Omnium Gatherum - The Burning Cold" on HDTracks for some dynamics :) DR13 compared to 8-10 for this record. Another fine example is Witherscapes The Northern Sanctuary CD2 on Limited Ed. (DR13).

I just got into Falconer in early 2018, and my thought while listening to amazing song after amazing song has just been -- How the hell did I miss this band until now? For 20 years they've kept with the sound that made them famous and which they do so damn well, giving us some of the best power metal in the world -- and without sacrificing aggressive riffs or drowning their songs in guitar-smothering synths, too. I hope they end up doing a best-of farewell tour -- I know they haven't been much of a touring band, but one last run would be so appreciated by fans around the world and would be a great way to cap off an incredible career. I think my two overall favorite Falconer albums are 'Falconer' and 'Among Beggars and Thieves.' My five favorite songs are 'Dreams and Pyres', 'Field of Sorrow', 'The Clarion Call', 'Mindtraveller', and 'Substitutional World'. What about you? Name your two favorite albums and five favorite songs.
