How to Weather Proof and Winterize your E-Scooter

Winter is coming.
As our e-scooter community across the globe grows, and peak riding season starts slowing down, there will still be enthusiasts out there who will want to ride through the wintry cold rain and slush. Fret not because you can still do it even if your e-scooter is not IP54 or IP65 rated.
Here are 4 simple steps to follow:
1. Waterproof your scooter frame
2. Seal your motor
3. Ensure there is at least 80% charge to your battery
4. Install off-road tires
Our tutorial here attempts to show you the whole process from start to finish. Caution! This is a very lengthy video and the process will probably take 4 hours to complete. The level of difficulty is high but trust us on this, once you do it, the results will be extremely satisfying and it gives you an extreme peace of mind.
Our recommendation is to bring it to your nearest scooter shop to get it done professionally. And if they do not know how to do it, show them this video!

This is great video. I have been riding my kugoo m4 pro in the snow and rain. I can see rust in the steering bearings. So probably more rust in other places.

@@FalconpevSg i have M4 pro juat started riding it today. Purchased it for 600 euros would you recommend buying something more robust such as a mantis 8 plus or emove cruiser. If if it's double or even 3 times the price. Is it going to make a difference long term. I feel you don't like kuggo M4 pro is there a reason for that. What kind of maintenance does one need for the scooters. What it the frequency of maintenance,weekly daily monthly?

Why do noone in any video talk abouit the oils seals in hub motors?. This is a critical place where water can get into the motor. It's important to put grese in it and make sure it's in good condition.

pro tip clean ur hands between touching the rims and the break disc clean the break disc with alcohol 90% best before instaltion onto the scooter and use locktight on the disc whent screwing it onto the motor because bicycle breaks get compromised if oil gets onto them it will not burn off like on a motorcycle the breaks it will just not work and u will have to replace the break pads and clean the break dics with alcohol 90%

@@FalconpevSg ye i know just dont touch the break disc on the breaking surface with greasy hands at all and tell this on video because some people just dont know u can touch motorcycle break discs with greasy hands just not these bicycle breaks because they get contaminated and u have to clean the break pads with alcohol then otherwise they just dont work and the breaks are not effective at all learned it the hard way xd i lubed up my scoter back wheel with grease and it driped onto the break disc and it didnt break at all no matter how hard i pressed onto the breaks

I thought it was more a necessity to waterproof the inside of the decking to ensure no water can get in and also insulate/waterproof all the electronics??

hmm there may be some but actually the motors are ok to some water, it will still work with droplets and splash, but not a huge amuont of water

We use threebond for our threadlockers and lubricants. For grease, we use a generic high temperature grease.

No it won’t affect motor. Grease is inert and a neutral non ferrous substance.

Don’t turn it on don’t charge it. Leave it to dry out first

no zero 9 is almost impossible to waterproof due to the front plastic cover.
