I've now watched all of your videos from my bed, in my studio apartment, in the US with complete fascination and awe. Thank you! Can't wait for more.

Such good husbandry and probably every good point came from someone’s mistake just like in horse care, etc. much respect. Keep going! Love from Montana 🦌

Perfect! I really could have used this video the day I trapped my rt. Getting that wild thing in and out of his GH was terrifying. Lol.

Another reason to have a securing point outside the box is in case something catastrophic happens like a car crash, the handle suddenly snapping or simply forgetting to actually latch the box properly (you scoff but it happens to almost everybody eventually) and the bird is still secured to the box (or what's left of it). Some boxes without you can knot the end of the tether to stop it being pulled through but that won't help if the bird manages to get out.

Jesus, this is some well produced content. You either have a production company behind you editing all the raw footage together or you're the hardest working falconer/content creator ever.

Will never do this, but love to see these and your beautiful birds and you have a wonderful, natural way of instruction

Love your content and the calm, knowledgeable manner in which you present it. Your respect for your charges is very evident. I was taught when building transports for my birds, to keep the perch parallel to the length of the vehicle. The reasoning being, that with stops and starts your bird is better braced and able to maintain balance. Whereas with the perch perpendicular, your bird would have a greater tendency to lose it's balance on starts and stops as it pitches forward or backward. I never contested that logic and did as I was taught. Now, seeing your travel boxes with the perpendicular arrangement, it causes me to wonder. What has your experience been in regards to balance with your positioning? Boop Boop WoooW

Do you have any recommendations on training the bird to go into the travel box? My RTH is afraid of it. I was going to tidbit her on to the perch, but I want her to go in back first of course, so that won’t work. I’ve desensitized her to getting close to it, but she does not want to go in. Any tips greatly appreciated!

What's the advantage of a lanner gyr vs a peregrine.? Lovely looking bird though.

You said he is a Gyr-Lanner falcon, i take it that's a cross from a Lanner and a Gyr falcon ?? Would love to see a detailed video about him, stunning bird.

Yes he is :) some falcons naturally hybridise in the wild. We also cross them in captivity. There are lots of benefits.

Hiya. Can you tell me why the boxes are pretty much pitch black inside rather than letting a little light in?
@PM_82
@PM_82 4 жыл бұрын
When the box is pitchblack it keeps the bird calm and prevents movement so it is less likely that the bird will hurt itself or damage their feathers.

Thank you. So is the case similar when falcons etc wear the hoods? Can you please explain more about the hoods they wear ? Thank you kindly
@PM_82
@PM_82 4 жыл бұрын
@@nonopus3125 Yeah, it is the same principle, when blinded/dark they dont react to things in their view and inside because if they fly off they can fly into things. Dont know much about their hoods, i do not work with bird but i do know about the reason for making it dark.

I am mostly confused with bird sizes. When people say its a big bird. I always look in the total length not weight. Lannerfalcon is mostly descriped as larger then perigrine, but this birds can reach length 55cm+. Maybe its not commenly known, but I know its a fact. I did read that a mediterainian subspecies are smaller like less then 40cm. But is the lanner something between a peregrine and a saker? Or the Saker his little brother? This is a falcon I dont know much about.

That particular one was made by Falcon Fabrications - falconfabrication.co.uk. But I also use a chap called John Courton who makes equally wonderful boxes here in the UK.
