It’s really refreshing to see some young blood getting into falconry and understanding what the relationships is with man and bird.there has been a serious decline over the years and it’s such a shame as falconry is a very rewarding experience.

awe bird are so smart with feelings of course she loves you! I had a bird I set free, he came to visit me all the time, even showed off his wife & kids...he always knew when my car was out front to come say hello

I camped out for three months to raise a red tail that fell out of a tree. Warding feral cats and feeding it quail to make sure it ate. Would have otherwise been dead ( since it’s nest mate died due to bad advice from local wildlife agency basically telling me to let nature die it’s thing and let it be) she now comes back every year and has babies again this year. Guaranteed she would be dead otherwise, the cats tore the other hawk apart. I figure by saving her I put at least a few more hawks up in the sky. She won’t fly to me anymore but she shows her appreciation and knows where home is (my cottonwood tree) not sure what’s wrong with our local fish and game but hey certainly have no common sense or care for birds of prey

@@cryptolegend6803 Don't expect fish & game wardens ( they only enforce the laws) to know anything about birds of prey. You have to go to the f & g biologist or contact a local falconer for advice.

I know it was a short vid on the basics of The Awesome Sport of Falconry, but I didn't notice any Lure training described in your vid, which is important when you want to call the Hawk in the field when it's not interested in the glove. Perhaps just to keep the vid short, Lure training was left out. Maybe the Lure was in the Falconry bag? Still I enjoyed the video. Thanks for posting!👍👋

This excellent video is more a description of the basis of the relationship rather than a training video.Many steps are left out because they differ only slightly and are not the foundation and essence the guy was very skillfully outlining.Without that essential understanding anything else is of little value.

What a perfect explanation on the definition of falconry for the people who do not know what falconry is,also the aspiring falconer, and especially for nay sayers who do not understand that falconry in large part is as much about conservation as it is pure love and passion for these magnificent raptors.study the history of falconry so you know that without this ancient sport many of these Raptors might not even exist.the falconers have been these birds of prey most important conservationist.it is solely because af falconers that the laws protecting these birds have been in place for a long long time thus saving them from extinction.

This is a fascinating hobby/educational resourse. I organize a raptor festival in a small rural town in Manitoba, but the only one in Manitoba. I am amazed by this Falconry aspect and would like to educate our patrons to this fascinating world of birds. Who falcons in southern Manitoba 10 miles north of the border?? Thrend Hi there! I did hear from the association. I found a Sponsor and flew a Red tailed hawk last season. Things are a bit more challenging now since COVID has happened. But I can point you in the right direction if you are having issues.

My uncle and I saved an eagle in India when I was a child. We fed the baby and let it back out into the wild when it was old enough. That eagle would come and visit us every morning, would give me little offerings of mice and rabbits on my doorstep, which gross... but it was so cute. Now I really want to get into falconry but it's a bit iffy here in Australia legal wise I think. I can't find any falconers near me either.
