The gameplay wasn't that bad, making an actual plot is much more important imo. The story felt pretty much non-existent for me. It may sound a bit radical, but if you look at Nier's plot rationally, it's hardly anything more than a sequence of events powered mainly by emotions with little to no explanation (as in "how and why did that happen? why is this character doing what they are doing? what is the background for this crucial major story event of utmost importance?" If all that were to be fixed, the remake would truly go down in history as one of the most creative art pieces in gaming, and I know YT can do it, and hope to see it someday.

While Kaine Salvation is the fan favorite of her themes for some (since it plays throughout most,if not,the entire game no offense) I will always argue this is THE best version/variation of Kaine's themes period. It just has that "oh yeah shit's about to go down" and "time to end this once and for all" vibes which you can already tell with just how final it feels lol. But not only that this is the pivotal point in the story and her character development where Kaine finally finds and taps into her true,full strength and it's so nice to finally see her give Hook the giant "f#$$ you" after tormenting her for most of the game. It's moments like that why I love fictional,video game storytelling truly amazing stuff if done right. Plus it does help at this point she's also fighting not only for herself,but to also bring back Nier (whom at this point she's grown feelings for furtherly completing her character development in the process) which makes her final showdown with Hook all the more awesome and powerful (combined with this track playing during the whole fight of course).
