Hello, I'm an Argentinean living in the United States since 2001. I need to tell you that the Falkland Islands are in good hands. A country that can't govern itself, like Argentina, does not deserve more land. Places that have been deeply influenced by the UK turn into gold such as he USA, Australia, New Zealand.

Thanks Rod, you're spot on. Colonialism and imperialism are dirty words these days but it's no coincidence that former British empire countries do better than those once ruled by the French, Dutch Portuguese and Spanish etc. It's a shame one of your former compatriots has chosen to insult you for emigrating to the US. At least from the outside you can get a clearer picture of what you have left behind. A good move I'd say.

The Falklands nation has a really bright future. I envy the Falklanders. In fact, I wish I was a Falklander. Their country has a lot to look forward to. I've heard it's quite hard to emigrate to the Falklands. The Falklands government are very careful about who they accept as permanent immigrants to their nation. I certainly can understand that. But they need to build up their population a lot. Also, the highway between RAF Mount Pleasant and Stanley, needs to be fully surfaced.

I think that if flight routes were established from Argentina to Malvinas, the Islands would grow a lot and develop faster because a lot of tourists from Argentina and Brazil mainly would go and tour around. BUT NO, BECAUSE THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT DIDN'T ACCEPT AEROLINEAS ARGENTINAS FLY TO THE MALVINAS .. You get damage by that islanders
@argentrolos10 жыл бұрын
Buelligan88 You are a complete fool, and u don't even know how to read. I've never mentioned the issue of the island even less I never said Argentina must control them. I only said that with flights from/to Argentina the islands would be more developed. Look what they are now... A boring place,there is nothing to do, the view and place is horrible, the population is minimal (most of them chileans) ..... You won't get anywhere like this. Well, maybe a new province of Chile
@Myles0Harcourt10 жыл бұрын
They didn't accept Aerolineas Argentinas flying there because Argentina wanted them to cut the LAN flights. That service is their lifeline, why would they hand control of it to their enemy?
@argentrolos10 жыл бұрын
Myles0Harcourt I put Aerolineas as an example. I don't know if you want, LAN flights from Buenos Aires or from southern Argentina. The islands would be much more developed and connected to the continent.
@argentrolos10 жыл бұрын
***** You don't have to mix political issues with economic ones. This is better for the islanders. The islands would be much more developed and connected with mainland America.

When I was last in the Falklands (2002), the only civilian flights in and out were from Chile and Argentina would not allow the Chilean planes to fly over Argentina. You need to grow up and act like adults before anyone will treat you like adults.

According to the United Nations, nowadays, the islands remain one of ten territories under british colonialis, and they are in the UN process of decolonization. The UK is the administering power of that non self-governing territory. Please, colaborate with the UN and Argentina to eliminate once and for all, colonization in all its forms. thank you.

Quite the contrary to the status of ten territories under british colonialism according to the UN. bearsagainstevil, How interesting, but im not spanish. I am argentine and my nation its a recognized sovereign state. While the people who live in Malvinas are british, mostly born in Britain or its "BOTs" and are considered a colony on the United Nations decolonization process. I suggest you guys come up with something more clever or dont say anything at all. You are just showing you've been indoctrinated saying exactly what your polititians said. Greedy Capitalist = David Cameron. Bearsagainstevil = Common ignorant british. Nobody in the world or in history accused Argentina of colonialism. Except for David Cameron in the UK.

@@liberatoar Argentina and all south America was colonised by Spanish and Portuguese there were people living in south America prior to the Spanish and Portuguese arriving, there was no one living in the Falkland's prior to the british arriving the british discovered the islands and they and the French settled them first . Your claim is based on the Spanish claim which is basically the pope in Rome divided south America between Spain and Portugal, and therefore the pope gave the islands to us even though he or the Spanish didnt know they existed .we are not catholic and so what a man in a pointy hat and a dress in Rome says doesn't apply to us .and the UN wont do anything about the ownership of the islands
@liberatoar3 жыл бұрын
@@bearsagainstevil "Argentina and all south America was colonised by Spanish and Portuguese". Would that be a valid sovereign claim?. would that legitimate us to invade the USA or any other nation whose territory was once colonized and form a colony there, becouse they were once colonized?. "there was no one living in the Falkland's prior to the british arriving". In 1775, there were the french, who settled them one year early and claimed it for their king. Who by the way, recognized prior spanish sovereignty rights and ceded the colony to Spain. And, In 1833, there were an argentine colony that continued the succesives spanish administrations of the whole territory for over 60 years whose flag was lowered by the british at the point of the guns of two british ship fully armed. So which one of the two occasions the british arrived you are referring to?. " the british discovered the islands and they and the French settled them first". Nope, the british did not discovered the islands. They copy and paste the map of Sebald de weert. The spanish, had discovered them almost a century earlier. And the French and the british did not settled first together nothing. Specially in those times. The French settled them first and claimed them first. The british settled them later (hidden from the already known french colony) arguing "surprise" at "seeing another power on a british claimed land" when the french saw them. You dont believe in the pope, but the spanish after discovering them, after being transferred and being recognized full spanish prior sovereign rights by the nation who did claimed and settled the islands first. They administered the whole territory alone and with no protest nor sovereignty claim, until 1811 when they left by the argentine war of independence. "and the UN wont do anything about the ownership of the islands". Nobody said the contrary. What the UN do says, is that in this century, there are ten territories under british colonialism. And that in the case of the Malvinas Islands, exist a sovereignty dispute between the UK and Argentina, and that to proper decolonize both nations have to negotiate sovereignty. Nobody in the world consider the Malvinas are british. Except for Britain and the Commonwealth of nations composed by ex british colonies. Not even the USA consider the british are the legitimate owners of the place. They only recognize a de facto british government and takes no sides regarding sovereignty.
