With the conflict over, British troops that have been sent to the islands settle in and the local population try and resume a resemblance of normality. Thames TV's 'TV Eye' was one of the first Televisions companies permitted to film there after the conflict.

@@andresmino1860 This was not a NATO action. The UK never invoked the articles of collective defence (articles 4 and 5) of the North Atlantic Treaty and the Falkland Islands lie outside of the NATO 'area of responsibility' under article 6 of the treaty. Only the UK forces participated in the conflict. In any case why would NATO leaders (many of whom were Thatcher's political opponents) want to boost her chances of re-election? Just a question, if sheep continually grow wool, what if you loose one? Also did they evolve from goats or something so it produced wool. I'm confused as to how they came became sort of domesticated and needing humans to sheer them in order for them to live normal lives? Sorry to sound so American.
@elias-jm9ho
@elias-jm9ho 2 жыл бұрын
Domestic sheep are descended from wild sheep. Wild sheep naturally shed their winter coats, but humans selectively bred the ones that produced more (and shed less) wool, while culling the ones that didn't. So sheep that produced lots of wool and didn't shed passed on those genetics, creating distinct breeds of domestic sheep. Sheep began to be domesticated a very long time ago (around 10,000BC) so their exact line of descent/ancestors are unclear. So domestic sheep today do not shed their coats, and produce more wool than they need, and need to be regularly shorn. If they are not shorn, they can suffer from health problems like infections, restricted movement, and overheating, which could potentially lead to death. This is quite rare though, especially on small islands like the Falklands! hope this helped a bit :)

The Falklands have never belonged to Argentina. Therefore, Argentina should not own something it has no right to own and has never owned. The UK is the lawful Original Sovereign of the Falklands, and claimed them first, in 1594, 222 years before Argentina existed. In 1825 Argentina submitted a full description of all of its lands, islands, latitudes and longitudes claimed, to the UK, in order to be recognised in the Treaty of Friendship: this did not include the Falklands, and Argentina was accepted as such. In 1829 Argentina tried to clandestinely seize the Falklands and ignored a British Formal Diplomatic Protest, and a second in 1832 when they tried to install a governor. In 1833 a British warship asked a trespassing Argentine warship to leave the area which it duly did. The British flag was hoisted and British Sovereignty resumed. Argentina protested intermittently until 1849 when it gave up its claim in the Convention of Settlement, after which, Argentina issued not one Formal Diplomatic Protest for 97 years until 1946, nor were the Falklands mentioned once in the Argentine Congress from ratification of the Convention in 1850 until 91 years later in 1941. Since then, using a settled dispute as a pretext for a fictitious new one, aimed at uniting the people behind a common cause, Argentina has harassed and bullied the Falkland Islanders, denied their human rights, campaigned against their existence, attacked, invaded and annexed their country, covered the place in land mines and dead bodies, and in the present day, bullies their stallholders at trade shows and even their girls badminton team. No country on earth actually has less right to the Falklands than Argentina after its shambolic abuses, and in 2013 the Falkland Islanders, the only people who can determine the sovereignty and political future of the Falkland Islands, voted by 99.8% for UK Sovereignty. The matter is settled.

If Argentina had been truly humiliated, as Germany had been during the 2nd World War, Argentinians today would have a more reasonable and mature attitude, in the same way that today’s Germans don’t keep banging on about their lost territories nor displaying German flags when they go to Poland. The prevailing stance before and during the war was that Argentina shouldn’t be humiliated (eg Dennis Thatcher advised his wife Margaret Thatcher to follow this stance), so it would be easier to work with them after the war. It didn’t work out like that, unfortunately.

Modern-day Argentina consists of land stolen by colonists from the Indigenous people of South America but they lay claim to the Falklands as a birthright. He died in Guayaquil one night on November 23, 1828, his body was taken to Callao in Peru, in case of war England against some other country the Peruvian government and Peruvian president must support England and deliver heavy war material, give fighter jets and send Peruvian soldiers to the English armed forces in gratitude to England because England financed the independence and liberation of Peru, the British also helped the Argentine José de San Martín, the English founded everything in Peru cities, companies, banks , freemasonry, inka kola drink, they made soccer popular in Peru, schools, and many more things, etc. the Peruvian people must apologize to England and to the English people we are in time to strengthen the economic and military alliance, without England Peru would not exist and neither would the Peruvians exist, without the English we are nothing, without England Peru would continue to be a colony of Spain, thank you England for financing and liberating Peru in its independence, England, English people, José de San Martín Argentine people will continue to be the liberators of Peru today and always Greetings from Perú Lima

Order from CBFFI, stop calling the Falkland islanders “Bennys” (after Benny the handyman in Crossroads, a tv drama from the era, he always wore a bobble hat and spoke with a slow cadence), so we stopped calling them “Bennys” and called the “stills”, translated = “Still Bennys”, it wasn’t really derogatory but obviously somebody somewhere down the line took offence, but it really didn’t stop us. It might sound strange but the 4 months I spent there were very enjoyable, it was after MPA opened so the living conditions were totally different from the days of the Coastells, a huge bonus for everyone detached down there. The best thing about the tour was the islands themselves, rugged, and in my opinion a step back in time, I would say untouched by human hands, but for obvious reasons it was tainted by us humans, what a waste. The Argentinians don’t want the Falklands for any other reason other than the oil and mineral reserves and a gateway to the Antarctic, but they will never get them.

The 1982 adventure was a big mistake, yes, but in their minds the islands still belong to them. Unfortunately for them, UK will never let them have it as there is oil nearby and it is an entrance to Antarctica, the future cake to be disputed.
