@@derekgrant6414 100% understand. We toured some before our son was born--Buckingham Place, London Bridge, Shakespeare's Birthplace. While in my 7th month of pregnancy, my husband was deployed in support of Dessert Shield/Storm. We lived in Lakenheath Village at the time. My British neighbors took such good care of me. I had an open invitation for afternoon tea and have never had a better cup of tea. My neighbors in the Village, had me over for Christmas, they fed my son his first biscuit, and generally cloaked me in love. I had nothing but joy while there and will never forget those days. One of the sweetest little memories is there was a flower cart set up in town. There was a little box to drop in your payment for the bundle of flowers. It was the HONOR SYSTEM. Imagine how lovely it was to get these locally grown flowers for a few pence and to be trusted to pay it. Just magical.

I have just caught up with your videos and I think this is ideal, showing a very typical Suffolk village and it`s amenities. We English do love our greenery and because of our temperate climate with just enough rain , visitors will see that most people take a great pride in showing the work that is put into making private gardens and public spaces look beautiful. Although not Suffolk born ,I have lived in a town south of Bury St. Edmunds for almost 60 years and can say for American families there is a lot to offer in quite a short car ride from Lakenheath. And don`t be shy about taking a ride on public transport ,you can see a lot from upstairs on a double-decker bus, the children will love it .

The Norfolk & Suffolk coast have some lovely places and villages. I also hear Oxburgh Hall a few miles north of Lakenheath is a very nice place, if you like historic places. My sisters son joined the US Navy as a Brit teen, ended up in Airforce , retired master chief now, all fascinating to me. In September my self and my other sister, spend a lot of hours in one day watching take off & landing (F15s) at Lakenheath, it was awesome even at the viewing area, you could feel the ground shake, my sis says she wants a house looking over the runway lol. She has stayed on base at Fairchild in the northwest US some years ago with relatives.

@@americanabby - Don't worry, Abby, your critics don't know that BOTH terms originated in Britain. "Autumn" in the 14th Century and "Fall" in the 16th Century. That "Historic" fish and chip shop can't even display the union jack correctly on it's signage. The flag is in reverse... tut-tut! smh I'm British. It's a bugbear. Bad enough when people like foreign fashion houses proudly plaster the union jack all over their clothes displaying our flag incorrectly. But when you've got a "British" chippy in England serving the national dish and even they can't do it properly, well what hope have we got lol!
@gavinmurrell56045 ай бұрын
The chip shop is run by foreigners. Years ago and it was called snushells and ran by a local family, all fish n chip shops in our local areas Mildenhall, Lakenheath, Brandon, West row, Beck row, Thetford, and even Red lodge are all run by Turks 😢 so none of them are traditional fish n chip shop's anymore.
