Thanks for the post. I drove this exact route everyday from work (RAF Lakenheath) to home (Beck Row) for 5 years. The last right before the A1101 roundabout was the turn off for Beck row. The memories flood back.

I used to drive that road like a maniac in my MGB in 1973. I was one of the first female airmen to be stationed at Lakenheath. I lived in Woodland Way in an old hunting lodge which I see has been torn down. It was right across from Thetford Forrest.

Was stationed at Mildenhall in the early 90s, lived in Lakenheath base housing. I used to ride my bicycle that exact route to work, about 8 miles one way! Of course, it was still an open base at the time so I went down farther to the gate past the Bird in Hand. Loved living there!

I have lived in Mildenhall almost all of my life, so it's nice to see my hometown through the eyes of another. However, lots of the businesses you showed, including both banks, have closed down.

Thanks! What memories for me also. Was stationed at Lakenheath from July 1969-Dec. 1972. Mechanic on F100's and F4's (493rd TFS). Like everyone has already commented, road hasn't changed much although I do like that they have curve warning signs. We were at the mercy of being sober to tell that the curve was coming - LOL!!! Went back as a reservist in 1984, 1994, and 2000 - all to Mildenhall. Loved the UK. Thanks to Google Street View, I still scroll up and down the streets of London where I hung out and partied. Neighborhoods look the same. Someone do the same in Newmarket. Thanks again.

I grew up in #37. The house you’re taking your sunnies off in front of is Glenn’s house. He’s a hairdresser. My house is to the left. The people who used to live in the house you’re in front of in that scene were Pard and Reg. They’d probably been there since the 20s at least. The last time I was in the UK was just before Covid and I peed in that house. I know the owners. Former post man and his wife was my babysitter. Anyway, surreal but thank you. Just remember, Tudd, like Rudd.

Thank you so much for highlighting this extraordinary church. I also live in Suffolk, but have not yet had the opportunity to visit , as is so often the case for many of us ! The entire county has a wealth of amazing churches, some areas more than others. Thank heaven they were spared during the time of King Henry’s reformation. Many were not. Hope you continue to travel and enjoy your time here. 🙏🏼❤️

I was disappointed to not see Snushalls Fish and Chips, which my friends and I used to frequent as young Airmen at RAF Mildenhall back in the early 70s. But then I saw on TripAdvisor that Mildenhall Fish and Chips is the old Snushalls.

Great to see this Abby. I did a bit of family research and my family (of 12) are listed as living in the Mill House opposite The Bull Inn in 1841 ! Robert Smith was also a Miller opposite and apparently died of gangrene of the foot?!? Industrial accident? Buried in St Marys. Thanks so much for sharing. Terry

So beautiful having a sunroom to enjoy. We were living out in Moulton for a year with a church up on the hill. They were there from long ago and had a jousting field. We had a meandering stream, a large weeping willow, and a beautifully planted back garden. (I no longer say YARD. ) We extended our tour over and over until they wouldn't allow a longer one. Really loved being there, and we managed 5 years. My son was born at the Hospital on Lakenheath. Our first four years was at 14 Elevedon Way in Newmarket. I really had culture shock when we returned to the States.

I lived it beck row two years We were a family of six. We were the first family to occupy a new dwelling. It was tiny. Measure the roof on Google Earth the bedroom I currently sleeping is bigger than the whole house. I think I'll have a cup of coffee. I can make it in my bedroom snack cart with a refrigerator and microwave on it. So I don't have to walk down 24 stairs oh yeah I have twelve-foot ceilings downstairs.

I have just caught up with your videos and I think this is ideal, showing a very typical Suffolk village and it`s amenities. We English do love our greenery and because of our temperate climate with just enough rain , visitors will see that most people take a great pride in showing the work that is put into making private gardens and public spaces look beautiful. Although not Suffolk born ,I have lived in a town south of Bury St. Edmunds for almost 60 years and can say for American families there is a lot to offer in quite a short car ride from Lakenheath. And don`t be shy about taking a ride on public transport ,you can see a lot from upstairs on a double-decker bus, the children will love it .
