🥨 Homemade pretzel bites recipe-
DOUGH: Mix dry ingrediants in a large bowl, then add water. Add more flour if needed. Should be soft, but not too sticky.
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp instant yeast
1 cup warm water
Knead for 4-5 minutes until soft and stretchy. Lightly grease a large bowl. Add dough to the bowl, cover with hand towel, let rise 30 minutes.
Preheat oven 500F, line sheet pans with parchment paper, lightly grease. Transfer dough to lightly floured work surface and cut the dough into 4 thick slices, then cut each strip of dough into 6-8 pieces.
🧈 TOPPING:
1/2 cup very hot water
2 tbsp baking soda
Coarse kosher salt
3 tbsp melted butter
Combine very hot water and baking soda, whisk to combine. Dip each pretzel bite into the baking soda mixture, let excess drip, then place on sheet pans a couple inches apart. Sprinkle with salt. Let them rest 10 minutes uncovered, then add to oven for about 6 minutes. Brush them with butter.
🧀 CHEESE DIP SAUCE:
Melt 1 tbsp. butter
Add 1 tbsp. flour
Add 1 cup milk a little at a time
Bring to a gentle boil and whisk, cook for a few minutes until thick. Shut off heat and gradually add 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese. Add 1 tsp Dijon mustard (regular mustard is fine, too) and salt and pepper and 1/2 tsp chili powder. Dip pretzels and enjoy!

I resonated with your message today. I used to stress cleaning the toys, dishes laundry all of it. This august my daughter had to suddenly have 2 heart procedures. One being open heart surgery. My church has a fall festival the end of October. We have inflatable houses, obstacle courses, a mechanical bull, mechanical roping, other carnival games, petting zoo, pony rides, and others. Also have a hey ride pulled by a huge John Deer tractor. Kids dress up in costumes for it. I would normally decorate for Halloween with lights and maybe spider webs, but not this year. My mom has a tentative job offer in Ohio ( have to submit a few things before it is a full blown one) so looks like will be moving and I’d rather keep it packed because it is just easier. I had just cleaned my living room less than 24 hours ago and my toddler has toys everywhere, it is a happy mess. My toddler is my miracle baby. She had brain damage at birth from a short period of lack of blood and oxygen to her brain during L&D. I thought she was still born. But God was with her and the effects are very mild. I pray every morning to thank God for another day and my blessings of family, a home, and everything.

Everything in your home is so nicely coordinated and stylishly decorated. Halloween?...🤔...I feel it is for kids and has become far to commercialized and ghoulish. I understand that you have small children, therefore it is necessary to celebrate aspects of it. I prefer to celebrate FALL/Thanksgiving from October to the end of November. I saw something the other day along the lines of what you were saying. Instead of saying I have to wash the dishes, I have to wash the clothes, I have to go to the grocery store, change it to I get to wash the dishes because we had food to eat, I get to wash clothes because we have clothes to wear, I get to go to the grocery store because I have money to buy food. We go trick-or-treating on Saturday before Halloween at the lake. On Halloween night we go to mostly family trick-or-treating and after that we have a bonfire and roast hotdogs and marshmallows. I’ve discovered my love language is the same! Being able to put my kids and husbands clean laundry away, vacuuming their rooms, changing their beds… all of it just makes me feel so good to be able to do for them! You’re so right- we, as humans, take so many things for granted but if we truly sat and counted all our blessings, it would take hours & hours to tell everything that GOD has blessed us with ♥️ I know lots of people that don’t celebrate Halloween but I don’t feel conviction over it. I don’t really decorate for Halloween, I do more fall/pumpkin decorations. My kids dress up & our church does a trunk or treat, but me and my husband don’t dress up. I feel this!! We are all so blessed!! All my babies are my miracles. My youngest is 16 months old and was born with hyperplastic left heart syndrome, and he’s had 3 open heart surgeries, and a g tube procedure. That’s not including other procedures or heart caths he’s had. Everyday I thank God for the blessings. We have so much to be thankful for. ❤❤
