Fall Creek Falls State Park | Best State Park In The South? | Beautiful Waterfalls In Tennessee

Fall Creek Falls State Park is Tennessee's largest state park at a little over 26,000 acres. It is worth the trip to Tennessee. It was voted one of the best state parks in the Southeast by Southern Living and we could see why. It is one of the most beautiful and well-kept state parks we have visited so far. There are so many activities and amenities that you could almost live there. They have beautiful waterfalls, gorges, overlooks, and over 56 miles of hiking trails. We were only able to see a small portion during our trip but it was definitely worth it. Fall Creek Falls is magnificent. It stands at 256 feet, making it one of the tallest waterfalls in the eastern United States. Hopefully, the next time we go we'll see Piney Falls. If you are ever in the area Fall Creek Falls State Park should be at the top of your list.

I was thinking I had already watched this one but after seeing it I don’t think I have. We’ve been there twice but the most recent time has to be at least 15 years ago. I remember being at the bottom and that’s a truly majestic waterfall and a beautiful park. Good video!

Best State Park in the South!!! You have my attention. I think 4-5 miles total is all our family can do. We enjoy the super short ones for sure. The sound of Rachel's footsteps really adds to the ambience. This place has so much. Are there Bears over there?

Awesome video! Someone else may have already said it, but Fall Creek Falls isn't just one of the tallest waterfalls in the United States - it is THE tallest waterfall in the eastern United States. Going west, you won't find a taller one until you get to Colorado.

How far / long of a hike is it from where you park to get to the falls?

From the parking lot down to the base of the waterfall and back is a little over a mile. But you get a lot of elevation coming out so it is kind of a hard trail

Could I ask how long it took you to get to the waterfall? My fiancé and I are looking to do engagement photos there and our photographer has some physical difficulties and can’t go too far. We also only have a 1 hour session so we are trying to figure it all out. Thanks so much in advance!

Thanks for the question! Considering your photographer physical difficulties I wouldn't recommend hiking down there it gets pretty steep and the rocks can get really slick. I'm not sure if you're able to travel at all but maybe you should look into toccoa Falls it kind of has the same look and you can walk right up to it on a gravel road in north Georgia. Hope that helps!

You're welcome! If you're considering toccoa give them a call because it's on a college campus they do allow wedding photographers there though probably have to schedule it.

This is the main waterfall in the Park Fall Creek Falls. You should be able to drive right up to it if you're in the park just grab a map or look online I can't remember exactly all the trails that lead to it but I know there's a parking lot above it that's where that picture was taken.

No I don't think you can swim in the Falls but from what I've heard they're swimming holes around the park you just have to do some research we were there during the winter time so we didn't even think about swimming lol

To add to your commentary on parking fees: Tennessee is one of seven states to have free state park admission. The 86% of states charging user fees are failing the public. These user fees are furtively designed to reduce taxes on the extremely wealthy and shift that cost to the middle class and poor. Yet it is the wealthy that benefit the most from the exploitation of our state and federal public lands for mining, timbering, and fossil fuel extraction. Fair and just environmental policy for the public should always be a significant priority when voting, because so many of our current politicians are beholden only to their donors, which include those most responsible for the degradation of our environment.

I feel like a donation to land conservation should be optional. Struggling families shouldn't have to worry about a $5 parking fee. Thanks for the comment!
