Sweater dresses, fleece-lined leggings, and ankle boots are my winter uniform. I am also an elder millennial. You can find a lot of free-to-download tie patterns, and if you don't mind experimenting, could make your own! I've never seen the movie Hot Fuzz, but I had a few of those fuzzy sweaters, and the SHEDDING. You would just lose sweater volume every time it went through the wash because they were pretty much just fishnets full of dryer lint. Very soft dryer lint that made your entire friend group molest you, but dryer lint just the same. Everything old is new again.

@moniquetroth Жыл бұрын
Hahahaha, hard same! I've got broad shoulders anyway, so the 80s thick shoulder pads just made it ever so much worse. :D (Now, the skinny shoulder pads were actually quite nice because they evened out my slightly rolled shoulders & gave me the correct "line" as opposed to "linebacker with chicken legs".) Also, also? Your name reminds me of one of my fave college professors.

She then stated it was trying to make a comeback, and I said the 80s have been trying to comeback since it went out and we took bellbottoms back into style before we let the 80s rear its awkward head again. 😅

As a member of Gen X I feel I must speak up for "Hot Fuzz". Which is an amazing movie that is the middle beat of the Cornetto Trilogy - including "Sean of the Dead" and "World's End". You don't have to watch them in order, but it helps to set up some of the repeating jokes. It's worth the time. Promise. Ten"Yarp's" out of ten. And what do you mean the 80's are back... I have photographic evidence (no doubt stored in a shoe box) that it's just not a good way to go. Learn from our mistakes for heaven's sake... - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi

Sweater dresses work in Mississippi for about.... two-ish weeks, usually in late January or early February. And "tea length" is my favorite dress/skirt length. Although, being 5'8" & 90% legs, I often have to buy maxi length & hem it a wee bit (or add significant length to skirt patterns).
@michellecornum5856 Жыл бұрын
Over here, racking my brain, for "navel grazing" patterns, because we certainly had those things, especially in the 70s when all the girls were as flat as boards and had no fear of showing anything (can't show something that isn't there) and didn't have to worry about wearing a bra (cuz there's nothing to hold up, anyway.)

Agreed. I don't even like it on vintage fashion. I know, it's period appropriate for certain decades, but it's just so unflattering (imo). Just below the knee looks much better, if you want that more conservative length. It's the same with this trend of pants ending a hand width above the ankle. Just....why??

Very interesting. Not only do I see a lot of the 80s, from peplums to boxy layered outfits, I see the parts I've been noticing in Korean series. Which is kinda creepy to me because they only work on extremely thin bodies. Any bulk or curves ruin the hang, make you look like a linebacker, or both. Style-wise, the 80s sucked for most female body types (I can't speak for guys). I hope young women with bodies like mine and pretty much everyone I knew bar the two or three most popular girls in each class just keep rocking styles that fit them, and not try to make their bodies fit trends.
