I did liquid this year in small amounts. Spraying every 2to3 weeks. My lawn stayed consistently green and thickened up this year after my renovation last fall.

I have tried all different ways to fertilize in Fall. We have to have our N down before 11/1 here on LI. I have spoon fed and also regular app before the deadline and my KBG always takes long to green up in the Spring. Can't apply N before 4/1 here. Have tried liquid and granular as well. It is what it is when dealing with KBG.

Yes and when you have to fertilize by a calendar, you’ll run into problems no matter what. Weather agree with a calendar only partially.

Interesting because I normally only drop a quarter pound on N to maintain a decent color. Unlike LCN I'm not interested in flushing dollars back to Milwaukee through their product. I just did a light app of Kelp/Humic and unsure if its even noticeable due to utility crews taking over our land.

I am starting to feel like my spooning feeding is causing shallow roots. You have inspired me to do more testing.
@Lawncology Жыл бұрын
Shallow roots will be more water related than anything else. Or you’re feeding too much N at a time.

I’ve tried to get all the fall blitz train so many years and just can’t. Sandy soil that doesn’t hold nutrients at all, along with irrigation that gets shut off early and not turned on until May basically wastes it all. I go out the first week irrigation is on and my lawn greens up at the same time as everyone having lawn care companies fertilize in late fall and early spring. I’ve just started saving the product now.
@Lawncology Жыл бұрын
You can actually use an organic based or carbon based material. That would be best for your soil
@somethinghandle Жыл бұрын
@@LawncologyI’ll have to look into that. I use the YM granular products which I think contain a bit of that but I have no clue if it’s “enough” or not percentage wise.

With a nitro blitz, is anyone else dealing with CLOVER MITES? And if so what do you use to kill them off. I never had CLOVER MITE issues until I started using synthetic nitrogen’s.

John, great video. Two questions. I am in central ca where our temps are still mid 80s. But, I am planting cool season grass because of how much shade I have. 1. Should I do nitrogen now or wait a bit longer? 2. If I am reseeding/ over seeding next weekend can I use nitrogen this weekend? Thanks. Hey who got the toy robomower?
@Lawncology Жыл бұрын
Hang tight. You’re not there yet. Yes you can apply N ahead of seeding

John quick question and wanted to ask the best source. Would it be ok putting down green pop again (21 days after putting down KBG) or do I need to use green start? My goal is to get the roots as establish as they can before first frost. Wanted to ask since the green pop has high phosphorus for the roots. I have also used Humic 12, rgs, and Air 8. Thank you.

You are correct that 1# of N on cool season grass is a waste. There are scientific papers to prove that. Dr. Shaddox has gone over some papers on that very subject...
@Lawncology Жыл бұрын
There are quite a few people who have and quite a few who believe it to be the only way. Dr Micah Woods has some great info on the subject and continues to research high performing turf. I suppose the big takeaway is that lawns are not high performance or high demand turf and most of the info given in studies (of greens or sports fields) doesn’t apply to the average lawn. So many people follow the 1lb per K like it’s a rule, and it isn’t.
