Be careful about following the advice to not having anything to fall back. We do not choose how the market works, for example the crucial factor for the most, demand for your labor is not dictated by you, but it's dictated by people having more power and money, whose interest is usually is not your best but their own best. Capitalist gives advice about competing and beating the competitors, but it's still just a huge musical chairs, where you can't dictate how many chairs there are. If you want to throw everything away just to get the chair, well, you are then possibly doing an exchange you are going to regret. Everybody's mileage may vary, but you have to mind that many things are not controllable by you. To exaggerate a bit, if this "be the best" -policy gets lot of support, it will result huge amounts of poor people. Countries can exist only by having nation co-aligned and work together to achieve goals, if you build lot of competition and greed there, it all will fall down to pieces. People will not respond favorable if you start pushing them.
